The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the officers allegedly involved in the reported attack on popular Nollywood actor and content creator, Ijoba Lande, have been identified and are currently under investigation.
The development follows a public outcry triggered by the actor’s emotional social media posts, in which he accused some police officers of assaulting him shortly after his return from the United Kingdom. Lande claimed that he and a friend were attacked during an encounter with the officers, leading to injuries and the loss of valuable personal belongings.
According to Lande, the incident resulted in the seizure of his iPhone 16 Pro Max, as well as $1,200 reportedly belonging to his brother. He alleged that the confrontation turned violent, leaving him physically hurt and emotionally shaken. In a video shared online, the actor was seen bleeding from his face and shirt, visibly distressed and struggling to cope with the pain.
The footage, which quickly went viral, showed Lande surrounded by concerned friends who urged him to immediately report the incident at the nearest police station. In the clip, the actor described the experience as extremely traumatic, claiming that his life was put at serious risk during the alleged attack. He stated that he “nearly lost my life,” a comment that sparked widespread concern and condemnation across social media platforms.
The post generated massive reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for accountability and transparency from law enforcement agencies. Reacting to the allegations, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, issued a statement on X on Friday, confirming that the officers accused in the incident have been located and brought before the Command for questioning. She disclosed that formal statements are currently being obtained from all parties involved.
SP Adebisi said, “The officers involved have been identified and brought forward to the Command for investigation. At the moment, both the officers, the actor, and his friend are giving their statements. Further developments will be communicated accordingly.”
She assured the public that the Command is treating the matter seriously and will provide updates as investigations progress. According to her, the police are committed to ensuring that the truth behind the incident is uncovered and that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken if the officers are found culpable.
Although the Lagos State Police Command has not yet released detailed information regarding the circumstances that led to the confrontation, officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
