Nollywood actress Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi, has opened up about her complicated and troubled relationship with controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, sharing emotional details of her experiences and challenges.
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Ashabi disclosed that her involvement with the singer began when she was much younger, claiming that Portable took advantage of her vulnerability at the time. She explained that although he initially appeared loving and caring, his behavior gradually changed, leading to constant emotional strain and instability.
The actress revealed that Portable, who is currently 32 years old, has 10 children with different women, and she is the mother of two of them. According to her, managing a relationship with the singer has been exhausting due to his unpredictable nature, jealousy, and frequent anger outbursts. She described him as a narcissist and admitted that every day feels like a struggle to maintain peace. Ashabi stated that she constantly wakes up thinking about how best to handle his mood swings and volatile reactions.
Her revelations come months after a dramatic public confrontation between the pair on New Year’s Day. At the time, both parties accused each other of serious wrongdoing, with shocking allegations made on social media.
In a viral Instagram video, Portable claimed that Ashabi stormed his residence with her family members and violently attacked his household. He alleged that his pregnant wife was brutally beaten, while guns were pointed at his children. The singer further accused Ashabi’s mother of confronting him, claiming he had used spiritual charms on her daughter and questioning why he had not bought her a car.
However, Ashabi strongly refuted these claims, offering a very different version of events. She explained that she and her siblings had only gone to visit Portable to celebrate the New Year peacefully. According to her, the situation quickly escalated when the singer allegedly pushed and slapped her during an argument.
She further claimed that Portable brought out an axe, forcibly collected their mobile phones, and physically assaulted her younger siblings. Ashabi alleged that her younger brother was struck in the eye, while her younger sister was slapped, leaving her deeply traumatized. Fearing for her safety, she said she had to hide in his office to avoid further harm.
Following the incident, Ashabi took to social media to address critics who had blamed her for the public drama. She urged people to stop interfering in her personal life, pleading for understanding and emotional space. The actress appealed for compassion, asking the public to reduce unsolicited advice and allow her the freedom to make her own choices.
Speaking candidly about her emotional state, Ashabi admitted that being in a relationship with Portable has taken a toll on her mental health. She said the singer’s jealous tendencies and aggressive behavior have made the relationship highly unpredictable, leaving her constantly anxious about what might happen next.
Despite everything, Ashabi revealed that she has remained in the relationship largely because of their children, noting that motherhood has forced her to endure difficult situations in the hope of securing a better future for them. However, she admitted that the emotional burden has been overwhelming and that she is still trying to find her footing.
Her revelations have sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans and observers expressing concern over her wellbeing and calling for professional help and support. Others have urged both parties to prioritize peace, maturity, and the safety of their children.
As the story continues to unfold, Ashabi’s candid account has once again drawn attention to the complexities of celebrity relationships, domestic conflicts, and the emotional struggles faced by women navigating turbulent partnerships under public scrutiny.
