Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia has shared a heartfelt message to women, opening up about a deeply personal phase of her life and encouraging others to choose themselves without guilt.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress reflected on how she once confused love with survival and admitted that she stayed in a situation longer than she should have because her heart was loyal.
Annie made the revelation while recommending a book she recently read, describing it as one that forced her to confront parts of herself she had long protected.
According to her, the book titled The Crowded Bed & The Empty Throne is not just inspirational but awakening. She noted that while some books simply motivate readers, this particular one confronts painful truths. Annie explained that after reading it, she encountered emotions and realizations she had buried for years.
“This book is for any woman who has ever confused love with survival,” she wrote. “For any woman who has ever stayed too long because her heart was loyal. For any woman who has ever needed permission to choose herself without guilt.”
She further stated that the book does not shame women for their past decisions but rather empowers them to wake up and raise their standards.
According to her, once a woman awakens to her worth, she stops negotiating her standards and begins to stand differently. Annie urged her followers to read the book and be honest about how it makes them feel if it resonates deeply.
Her post has sparked conversations online, especially given her widely publicised marital struggles. Annie was formerly married to legendary Nigerian singer 2Baba, also known as Innocent Idibia.
In January last year, the music icon publicly announced their separation, a development that generated significant reactions across social media. Reports later indicated that the singer had moved on with Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
Despite the challenges, Annie has maintained a tone of resilience in recent months. While celebrating the New Year, she described 2025 as a year that had thrown a lot at her but emphasized that she remained standing.
In another post shared earlier, she expressed gratitude for her life, admitting that although she has experienced a few hiccups, she considers herself blessed overall.
Her latest message appears to reflect growth, self-awareness, and healing. Many fans have praised her vulnerability, describing her words as relatable and encouraging to women navigating difficult relationships.
Others noted that her statement about confusing love with survival highlights the emotional realities many women face when loyalty keeps them in situations that no longer serve them.
As reactions continue to trail her post, Annie’s candid reflection has added another layer to her public journey, one marked by love, heartbreak, strength, and self-discovery.
