The family of late Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, has announced the burial schedule for the deceased artiste, who passed away on January 31, 2026.
Nanyah reportedly died after suffering a snake bite at her residence in Abuja. She was said to have been rushed to a hospital for urgent medical care, but unfortunately, efforts to save her life proved unsuccessful.
Her brother, Kingsley Nwangene, confirmed the sad development and shared details of the burial plans through his Instagram page, @official_kaybaba1. Alongside her obituary, he penned a brief but emotional tribute, writing, “Till I see you again.”
According to the statement released by the family, a service of songs has been scheduled for February 10, 2026, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Abule Oshun, Dansa, Lagos. The programme will commence at 4 p.m., after which a requiem mass will be held at the same venue by 6 p.m.
The family further disclosed that, “Ifunanya will be laid to rest in her hometown in Enugu State on February 14, 2026, while a thanksgiving service to celebrate her life and legacy has been scheduled for February 15, 2026.”
The announcement has been met with an outpouring of condolences from fans, colleagues, and members of the Nigerian music community, many of whom have taken to social media to mourn the sudden loss of the talented singer.
In honour of the late Abuja-based artiste, the Abuja Metropolitan Music Society Choir organised a tribute concert titled “Tribute and Songs” at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The event brought together music lovers, friends, and industry colleagues who gathered to celebrate her life, talent, and contributions to the local music scene.
The choir, which earlier confirmed that Nanyah’s remains had been transported to her father in Enugu State, described her death as a major blow to the Abuja music community. They noted that her passion, dedication, and artistic impact would not be forgotten.
Friends and fellow musicians have continued to share memories of her vibrant personality, humility, and love for music, describing her as a gifted singer who touched lives through her voice and artistry.
Nanyah, who was steadily building her career in the Nigerian music industry, was known for her soulful performances and active involvement in Abuja’s music scene. Her tragic passing has once again drawn attention to the fragility of life and the need for greater awareness of domestic safety and emergency response.
As preparations continue for her final rites, the family has expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and prayers received from well-wishers across the country and beyond. They also urged the public to keep them in their thoughts as they navigate this difficult period.
Nanyah is survived by her parents, siblings, and a community of fans and friends who will continue to cherish her memory and legacy.
