Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has announced the painful loss of her mother, revealing that the tragic incident happened just hours before the party organised to mark her 55th birthday.
The actress shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional post on Instagram on Monday, explaining that she was kept in the dark about her mother’s passing until after the celebration. According to her, family members deliberately withheld the information so she could enjoy her special day without distress.
Faithia disclosed that although her birthday fell on Thursday, February 5, she chose to hold her party on Sunday. Unknown to her, her beloved mother had passed away the night before the event.
“Dear friends, it was my 55th birthday on Thursday, February 5. However, I chose to have a party yesterday, Sunday,” she wrote.
“Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party, and the news was cruelly kept away from me.”
Describing the deep bond she shared with her late mother, the actress said the loss has been difficult to fully process, as her mother played several irreplaceable roles in her life.
“The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother,” she added.
While Faithia did not disclose the cause of death, she noted that the family has chosen to handle the situation privately for now. She appealed to fans, colleagues, and well-wishers to keep her family in their prayers during this painful period.
“Whilst I have taken solace in Allah (SWT), the Williams’ family has decided to keep things very private for now,” she stated.
“Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings this period. Burial details will be announced later.”
The devastating development comes less than two years after the actress lost her father, whose passing she announced in April 2024. The back-to-back losses have made the period particularly emotional and challenging for Faithia and her family.
Fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry have since flooded her social media pages with messages of condolence, offering prayers and words of comfort as she navigates this difficult time.
