Nollywood actress and singer Angela Okorie is yet to regain her freedom despite reportedly satisfying all the bail requirements granted by the Federal High Court in Abuja. Her continued detention at the Suleja Correctional Centre has triggered concern and intense discussion across social media platforms.

The court had, on Friday, approved bail for the actress in the sum of N5 million. The conditions attached to the bail included the provision of one surety in the same amount, who must be a level 13 civil servant. The ruling was widely welcomed by supporters, many of whom had been actively advocating for her release.

Angela’s bail was reportedly secured through the intervention of several activists and public figures, including former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, Mama Pee, Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop, and Randy Peter. Their involvement helped draw public attention to the case and hastened the bail process.

However, despite fulfilling all the stipulated conditions, the actress has not yet been released from custody. This unexpected delay has left fans confused and raised questions about procedural bottlenecks within the justice system.

Providing clarity on the situation, actor Stanley Ontop addressed the issue via his Instagram story. According to him, the delay was not due to any failure on Angela’s part but rather a matter of timing within the court’s administrative process.

“Angela Okorie Bail application has been processed, but after we had finished the processing, time has gone. So she will be out from Suleja prison by Monday. We have met all her bail conditions, we await Monday for her release,” he wrote.

His explanation suggested that the bail process was concluded late on Friday, after official working hours, making it impossible for the prison authorities to complete her release before the weekend. As a result, her freedom has been deferred until the next working day.

The development has sparked renewed conversations online, with many Nigerians expressing frustration over what they describe as avoidable delays in the judicial and correctional systems. Supporters of the actress argue that once bail conditions are met, release should be immediate, regardless of timing.

Others, however, noted that such delays are not uncommon, especially when legal procedures are concluded close to the end of official working hours or before weekends. They stressed that while unfortunate, the situation reflects broader systemic challenges rather than a targeted action against the actress.

Angela Okorie’s case has continued to attract public attention, partly due to her celebrity status and the involvement of prominent activists. Many fans have taken to social media to express solidarity, urging authorities to ensure her release without further delay.

As of now, all indications suggest that the actress will be released once official processes resume. Until then, she remains in custody at Suleja prison, with supporters closely monitoring developments and awaiting confirmation of her freedom.

The situation has once again highlighted concerns about efficiency and transparency within Nigeria’s justice system, as many continue to call for reforms that would prevent similar delays in the future.
