Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has tendered a public apology to Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisioluwa Eniola Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, following intense backlash over a question she asked at the reality star’s birthday celebration.
The incident occurred during Imisi’s birthday party held in Lagos on January 27, 2026, an event attended by several celebrities and close friends. During the celebration, Nkechi Blessing took hold of the microphone and asked Imisi if she had forgiven her mother. Although the question appeared to be asked from a place of concern, it instantly changed the atmosphere at the event.
The question reportedly left Imisi emotional, as she broke down in tears in front of guests. Clips from the moment quickly surfaced online, triggering widespread criticism from fans and social media users who felt the actress crossed a sensitive line. “I sincerely want to apologize to anybody who got offended with the question that I asked Imisi,” Nkechi said.
She went on to explain that her intention was never to embarrass Imisi or draw attention to herself, dismissing claims that she was chasing clout.
“My question came from a place of concern. I wanted to make sure she held no regrets, as my own relationship with my late mother made me value these moments,” she explained.
According to the actress, her personal experiences with her late mother influenced her decision to ask the question, as she believes unresolved issues between parents and children can leave lasting emotional scars. She noted that she only wanted to encourage healing and peace of mind.
Nkechi Blessing also addressed the emotional moment that followed her question, clarifying that Imisi’s tears were misunderstood by the public.
“She cried, yes, but those were not tears of sadness. They were tears of joy,” she said.
The actress stressed that her intention was to inspire reconciliation and emotional freedom, not to reopen wounds or create controversy at the event. She added that she would never intentionally hurt someone she genuinely cares about.
In her message, Nkechi also appealed directly to Imisi’s fans, popularly known as the “Imistars,” asking them to forgive her and stop the online attacks.
“I want to beg you all, please stop dragging me. I mean no harm. I love Imisi, and I wish her nothing but happiness and peace,” she said.
She concluded by sending warm wishes to the BBNaija winner, reaffirming her affection and support for her.
“I love you, Imisi, and I wish you the very best always,” she added.
The apology has since sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans commended Nkechi Blessing for taking responsibility and apologising publicly, others maintained that certain topics should remain private, especially during celebratory moments.
Imisi, who emerged as the winner of BBNaija Season 10, has continued to enjoy massive support from fans following her victory. Although she has not directly responded to the apology at the time of reporting, many admirers have expressed hope that the issue will be resolved amicably.
