Fresh details have emerged about the final moments of late Nollywood actress Allwell Ademola, following an emotional account by one of her neighbours who was present on the day she passed away.
Speaking during an interview with actress and filmmaker Biola Bayo, the neighbour shared a touching recollection of the distressing events that unfolded before Allwell was rushed to the hospital. According to her, it took more than 30 minutes before the actress could open her door, as she struggled to get herself dressed despite being in obvious distress.
The neighbour revealed that the delay weighed heavily on everyone involved and suggested that if Allwell had known the situation would end so tragically, she would not have objected to the door being forced open to reach her sooner.
“It took almost over 30 minutes. It took a long time,” she said. “She wouldn’t have minded if we had broken the door if she had known it would end up that way.”
She explained that once they were finally able to reach her, several people worked together to get the actress into a vehicle.
“We lifted her up, about five to six people, and I had to drive her to the hospital myself,” she recounted.
Describing the aftermath, the neighbour admitted that the reality of Allwell’s death still feels unreal, especially when reminders of her presence remain.
“It is still like a dream to me, especially when I see her things around. I will be like, ‘Is it really true?’” she added.
Allwell Ademola reportedly passed away on December 27 after suffering a heart attack at her residence. News of her death sent shockwaves through the Nigerian film industry and was confirmed by several of her colleagues via social media. Among the first to publicly mourn her were Damola Olatunji, Mr Latin, Faithia Williams and Bidemi Kosoko, who shared heartfelt tributes in her honour.
In the days that followed, the industry came together to celebrate her life and legacy. A Service of Songs and candlelight procession was held on Thursday, January 8, followed by her burial on Friday, January 9. The events were marked by tears, prayers and emotional tributes from friends, colleagues and loved ones.
After her burial, numerous Nollywood stars paid their final respects. Biola Bayo, who had been close to the actress, described Allwell as someone who would forever remain in her heart and urged her to rest peacefully.
Faithia Williams said the loss felt like a cruel dream and prayed that Allwell would find eternal rest until they met again. Regina Chukwu expressed deep sorrow that the actress did not live to see the completion of a movie they worked on together.
Jamiu Azeez also offered prayers, asking Allwell to “journey well” and for her soul to rest among the angels. Toyosi Adesanya said she was still in sober reflection, adding a heartfelt prayer that the industry would not experience such a loss again in the prime of life.
Muyiwa Ademola, who was unable to attend the burial, described the situation as especially painful, noting that her death was a sobering reminder that “tomorrow is never promised.” He reflected on the fleeting nature of life, saying each day reduces the time people have on earth.
Folorunsho Adeola promised to continue loving Allwell and remembered her kindness, while also honouring her with a moment of silence during her recent 40th birthday celebration. In a separate tribute, Folorunsho wrote that although Allwell was no longer physically present, she lived on through memories, stories and prayers.
Saidi Balogun also shared a tribute, posting a photo taken with the late actress and describing the loss as unreal. He noted that her smile and aura were unforgettable, adding that while he wished he could turn back time, he trusted that God knew best.
As tributes continue to pour in, the late actress is remembered as a vibrant soul whose sudden departure has left an indelible mark on the Nollywood community.
