The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Grammy Award-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy as the headline performer for the official closing Fan Zone concert of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
CAF made the disclosure in a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, confirming that the much-anticipated concert will take place on Friday at the OLM Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat, Morocco. The event is scheduled to kick off at 8:00 p.m. local time and is expected to draw thousands of football fans, music lovers and tourists who have followed the tournament closely.
Burna Boy’s selection as the lead act underscores CAF’s commitment to blending Africa’s biggest football competition with world-class entertainment. Known globally for his electrifying stage presence and chart-topping hits, the African Giant is expected to deliver a high-energy performance that reflects the spirit and cultural richness of the continent.
In addition to Burna Boy, CAF revealed a diverse lineup of supporting acts for the closing concert. Stormy, Ghanaian reggae-dancehall sensation Stonebwoy, and Moroccan singer Jaylann will also take the stage, offering fans a fusion of Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop and North African pop sounds. The mix of artistes from different regions of the continent is in line with CAF’s vision of celebrating African unity through music and sport.
AFCON 2025 has continued a growing tradition of pairing football with live entertainment, transforming the tournament into a full cultural festival. Throughout the competition, Fan Zones across host cities have served as hubs where supporters can watch matches, enjoy performances, and participate in fan activities designed to enhance the overall tournament experience.
The opening ceremony of AFCON 2025 set the tone for this fusion of sport and music. Held in Rabat ahead of the tournament’s first match, the ceremony featured a star-studded concert headlined by Nigerian music icon Davido. He was joined on stage by Moroccan hitmaker RedOne and American rapper French Montana, delivering a spectacle that drew praise from fans across Africa and beyond. The opening night preceded Morocco’s opening fixture against Comoros and was widely described as a vibrant showcase of African creativity.
The closing Fan Zone concert featuring Burna Boy is expected to serve as a celebratory curtain-raiser for the final matches of the tournament. On Saturday, attention will shift to the third-place playoff, where Nigeria is set to battle Egypt in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter between two of Africa’s football powerhouses.
The tournament will reach its climax on Sunday with the grand final, as host nation Morocco takes on reigning champions Senegal. The final carries historic significance for the North African hosts, who are aiming to lift their first AFCON trophy since 1976. With home support firmly behind them, Morocco will be hoping to cap off the tournament with a memorable victory.
CAF officials believe that events such as the closing Fan Zone concert play a vital role in enhancing the global appeal of AFCON. By spotlighting internationally acclaimed African artistes like Burna Boy, the football body continues to position the tournament not only as a premier sporting event but also as a celebration of African culture, creativity and unity.
As AFCON 2025 draws to a close, fans can look forward to a thrilling finale on the pitch and an unforgettable night of music, as Burna Boy and other top performers help bring the tournament to a vibrant and celebratory end.
