The mother of late Nigerian music sensation Destiny Boy has granted an emotional interview, breaking her silence to address widespread speculation surrounding her son’s death. Speaking with visible pain, she began by clarifying the age and state of her son before his passing. “He would have clocked 23 years this year,” she said, adding firmly, “Firstly, I want everyone to know that he has gone to rest.”

According to her, Destiny Boy had been battling a serious health condition long before his death—one the family kept away from the public eye to protect his career. She explained that the illness began about two years ago, shortly after Destiny welcomed his son and planned a naming ceremony. At the time, his spiritual guide, Ifayomi, whom she described as a babalawo who loved Destiny deeply, requested a cow as part of the rites.

Tragedy struck on the way to Ifayomi’s house when Destiny reportedly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Despite financial support sent for treatment, his condition did not improve. The family later took him to Ifayomi’s residence, where his mother was given a soap to bathe him. “The sickness did not leave his body,” she said.

She described the condition as seizure-like episodes known locally as “Oku oru.” “Anytime the thing strikes him, he will fall on the floor and when he recovers, he will start running around like a mad person,” she explained. The family sought help everywhere—churches, herbalists, and other healers—but nothing worked.

Recounting his final days, she revealed that Destiny was taken back to Ifayomi’s house for treatment after returning from Ayetoro. Although she couldn’t immediately join them due to her shop, she stayed in touch and was reassured he was stable. Days later, she received the devastating call. After another seizure, he was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death on arrival.

Addressing rumors head-on, she declared, “My son didn’t do any money ritual,” and warned those using his name for clout, saying God would judge them.

As fans continue to mourn, her testimony offers clarity, grief, and a plea for truth shifting the narrative from rumor to reality.
