Nollywood actress Bakare Zainab has strongly responded to online trolls who attacked her following the burial activities of the late actress Allwell Ademola, popularly known as Eniobanke. The actress did not hold back as she called out a particular troll who went as far as raining curses on her father through private messages.
Earlier in the week, Nollywoodtimes reported that Bakare Zainab sparked mixed reactions during Allwell Ademola’s Service of Songs, where a video of her shedding uncontrollable tears went viral. While some sympathized with her emotions, others accused her of putting on a dramatic display for the camera, claiming she was not particularly close to the deceased.
Addressing the backlash at the time, Bakare had warned critics to wait until Allwell Ademola was finally laid to rest before she responded fully. She expressed disappointment that some social media users would weaponize the death of a loved one just to attack her, noting that many people online deliberately push others to their breaking point.
Following Allwell Ademola’s burial, Bakare Zainab returned to social media with a fiery message, revealing that the criticism had escalated into personal attacks. According to the actress, a troll had crossed the line by sending her direct messages filled with curses aimed at her father.
In her words, Bakare wrote:
"Eniobanke finally laid to rest.
May God be pleased with your soul and honour your return.
People are coming into my DM to curse my dad, and y’all said I shouldn’t talk?
My father?
I am not a celebrity o, I will lose home training.
Ah, my father in my DM!
The Audacity!!
Instead of worrying about how others are grieving for their loved one, why not ask yourself, who will grieve for you when you’re gone, and how would they grieve for you?
Worry about your own end o.
Abi, you no go kpai again?
Ahhhh my father!!!
And y’all said I should keep mute.
Ah”.
The actress questioned the audacity of people who police how others grieve while ignoring basic human decency. She emphasized that she is not bound by celebrity expectations and would not tolerate disrespect toward her family, especially her father.
Bakare Zainab’s response has since generated conversations online about boundaries, empathy, and the toxic nature of social media commentary surrounding death and mourning.
