Judith Audu Productions has unveiled plans for the release of a new musical drama titled ‘EVI’, produced in collaboration with Switch Visuals Productions, Signet Rings Productions, and NOI Productions.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on March 27, 2026, and promises an emotionally charged story that blends music, personal struggle, and redemption.
Written and directed by Uyoyou Adia, ‘EVI’ is backed by CCHUB in partnership with Africa No Filter and the Gates Foundation. The project delves into complex human themes such as pride, addiction, humility, and the often-painful journey toward self-awareness and second chances, using the music industry as its backdrop.
The story follows Evi-Oghene Donalds, a gifted but deeply self-assured up-and-coming music star whose unchecked arrogance puts her at odds with those around her. At the peak of her rise, her life takes an unexpected turn when her record label collapses financially, leaving her career in ruins. Overnight, Evi is forced to abandon fame and fortune, swapping glamorous stages for a modest lounge performance circuit while taking up a job as a waitress to survive.
As she struggles to rebuild her life and sense of purpose, Evi crosses paths with Kola Adeloye, a former top-tier talent manager whose own life has fallen apart. Once respected within the industry, Kola is now trapped in destructive cycles of alcohol abuse and gambling addiction. With both characters at their lowest points, they form an uneasy and desperate alliance that becomes central to the film’s emotional core.
Their partnership, built on broken trust and fragile hope, evolves into a shared path toward healing. When Evi’s career unexpectedly begins to rise again, old wounds resurface, and the limits of loyalty, sacrifice, and integrity are put to the test. The film uses their intertwined struggles to explore how personal flaws can derail success, and how accountability can offer a way back.
Leading the cast is Osas Okonyon, who stars as Evi in what marks her first feature film role. She is joined by Uzor Arukwe, Omowunmi Dada, Ibrahim Suleiman, Waje Iruobe, Tomiwa Tegbe, and veteran actor Femi Branch, among others, forming a diverse ensemble that brings depth to the story.
Reflecting on her experience in the lead role, Okonyon described the project as a defining moment in her career. “Stepping into the world of ‘EVI’ for my first feature role has been a transformative experience. Evi’s journey is a powerful reminder that talent is only half the story—humility and who you choose to bring along are just as important. It’s a privilege to debut with a character that has so much heart and an inspiring arc of redemption.”
Producer Judith Audu also emphasized that the film goes beyond entertainment. According to her, ‘EVI’ is not simply a narrative about fame or the music business, but an exploration of the consequences of unchecked ego and the enduring importance of resilience, loyalty, and personal growth.
With its blend of music, drama, and socially relevant themes, ‘EVI’ is positioned as a thought-provoking cinematic experience that resonates with audiences navigating ambition, failure, and second chances. As its cinema debut approaches, the film is already generating anticipation as one of the notable Nigerian releases to watch in 2026. Audiences can expect stirring performances, memorable music, and emotionally grounded storytelling throughout.
