Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has taken to social media to celebrate her son-in-law, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, following his major win at the prestigious African Music Awards (AFRIMA).
The 9th edition of the African Music Awards was held on Sunday, January 11, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The star-studded event brought together some of Africa’s biggest music acts, industry stakeholders, and celebrities from across the continent.
Juma Jux emerged as the winner of the Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa, a victory that surprised many attendees and further cemented his growing influence beyond Tanzania.
The singer’s win was met with loud cheers and applause, reflecting his rising profile in the African music scene.
Reacting to the achievement, Iyabo Ojo took to her Instagram page to congratulate her son-in-law. Sharing photos from the award ceremony, the actress expressed her pride and excitement over his success.
“Sexiest glamma live at AFRIMA awards. Congratulations, son @juma_jux, on your awards,” she wrote.
Iyabo Ojo’s congratulatory message is not unexpected, as she has consistently shown strong support for Juma Jux and his career.
When the singer held his first major concert in Lagos in December, the actress publicly expressed how proud she was of him. She described the concert’s success as proof of his dedication, hard work, and intentional approach to his craft.
According to Iyabo, Juma’s discipline and focus are part of the reasons God blessed him with an intentional and loving wife who aligns with his vision. She added that his achievements are a reflection of his commitment to excellence.
Juma Jux’s wife, Priscilla Ojo, also celebrated her husband’s latest win. The influencer and brand ambassador praised him for pulling off another major achievement, describing him as the epitome of a real man.
She stated that his performance at previous events showed people what a proper concert experience should look like.
This is not Juma Jux’s first award win in Nigeria. In 2024, shortly after publicly debuting his relationship with Priscilla, he won the Best Artist/Group in Eastern Africa category at the Jaylia Awards held in Côte d’Ivoire. During his acceptance speech, he openly appreciated Priscilla and spoke fondly of her support.
Following that win, Priscilla declared her love for him, highlighting his kind heart as one of his most admirable qualities. Iyabo Ojo also offered prayers for him, wishing him continued success and more accolades.
Despite his growing success, Juma Jux has faced criticism online. When he won the Best East African Artiste of the Year award at the Headies, a social media user suggested that he married Priscilla to gain recognition and awards in Nigeria.
Defending her husband, Priscilla responded sarcastically, stating that her husband indeed got married for Nigerian recognition and awards. She described him as smart, calculative, and hardworking, affirming that his success is well-earned.
Juma Jux’s latest AFRIMA win further reinforces his position as one of Eastern Africa’s leading music stars and highlights his expanding influence within the Nigerian entertainment space.
