Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has explained why she remains relevant years after winning the reality TV show, attributing her staying power in Nigeria’s entertainment industry to hard work, focus, and consistency.
The reality TV star made this known during an interview with Odira Ndubuaku, where she spoke candidly about life after BBNaija and the discipline required to remain visible in a highly competitive industry.
According to Mercy, fame alone is never enough to sustain a long-term career, stressing that deliberate effort and daily commitment are what truly matter.
Mercy Eke, who emerged winner of the BBNaija “Pepper Dem” edition in 2019, said her relevance did not happen by chance. She noted that she has continued to show up, accept opportunities, and work tirelessly behind the scenes to build her brand beyond reality television.
“I am still relevant because I put in the work. I have never turned down any money,” Mercy said, emphasizing her strong work ethic and determination to maximize opportunities that come her way.
Speaking further, the entrepreneur and influencer highlighted the importance of living with purpose. She explained that unlike many people who drift through their days without direction, she wakes up every morning with a clear plan and specific goals to achieve.
“I mind my business a lot. I work hard. I wake up with purpose. Some people wake up and don’t have things to do, but I always have a clear picture of what to do every day,” she added.
Mercy also reflected on her BBNaija victory, describing it as more than just a personal achievement. According to her, winning the show was meant to inspire young women to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams regardless of societal limitations.
Since leaving the BBNaija house, Mercy Eke has successfully transitioned into multiple sectors of the entertainment industry.
She has remained a strong force in influencing, brand endorsements, entrepreneurship, and television appearances, consistently reinventing herself to stay relevant in a fast-changing space.
Her ability to remain in the public eye has earned her recognition as one of the most successful BBNaija alumni. Unlike many reality TV stars whose fame fades shortly after their season ends, Mercy has managed to build a sustainable career, proving that reality TV can be a stepping stone rather than a final destination.
Fans and industry watchers often point to her discipline, business mindset, and refusal to engage in unnecessary controversies as key factors behind her longevity. Mercy herself insists that staying focused and avoiding distractions has helped her remain consistent over the years.
