Former Big Brother Naija housemate and media personality, Queen Mercy Atang, has joined the viral “2026 is the new 2016” challenge, a social media trend that has taken over timelines in recent days. The challenge sees users sharing throwback photos and memories from 2016, highlighting how much their lives have changed over the past decade.
Like many celebrities and social media users, Queen Mercy used the moment to reflect on her journey. Taking to her Instagram page, the reality TV star shared throwback photos from her days as a beauty queen, offering fans a glimpse into her early hustle before fame and motherhood.
In a deeply reflective caption, Queen revealed that her journey has been anything but easy, describing years of relentless effort and perseverance. According to her, the life she lives today is one she once dreamed of, and while fame has come, she is now focused on sustaining success and creating long-term wealth.
“I hear we’re posting throwbacks from 2016, and I have so much to post, but the slides can’t carry it all. It’s been years of hustling for me back to back, no rest,” she wrote.
Queen further opened up about her aspirations, admitting that wealth and fame had always been part of her vision. However, she acknowledged that achieving visibility is only the beginning of a much bigger journey.
“I wanted this life. I wanted to be rich and famous. I got the fame, and now I’m learning how to maintain it and how to build generational wealth. So help me, God.”
The mother of one also took time to appreciate the people who have stood by her through the years, expressing gratitude to her family and close friends for their unwavering support.
“Thank you to my mom, my aunt, my siblings, and the few genuine friends who have supported me through all these years. God bless you all for me.”
Highlighting a major milestone in her career, Queen described her proudest moment as being selected by telecommunications giant Globacom to serve as a judge at an event in Awka.
“One of my proudest highlights was when @globacomlimited called me to be one of their judges at their event in Awka. I was so proud.”
Beyond reflections, Queen Mercy has continued to make bold personal choices. She recently revealed that she got her first tattoos at the start of the new year, admitting that she once viewed tattoos negatively but has now embraced self-expression.
Queen’s story has resonated with fans, inspiring conversations about growth, ambition, and evolving perspectives.
