Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has been left emotional after achieving a major career milestone, as her 2025 cinema release, Oversabi Aunty, officially crossed the ₦1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office.

The achievement places Abraham in an elite league alongside Funke Akindele, further cementing her status as one of Nollywood’s most bankable stars. The box office feat was confirmed on Monday, sparking widespread celebration among fans and industry colleagues.

Reacting to the record-breaking success, Abraham took to her Instagram page to express heartfelt gratitude to her supporters, popularly known as the “Toyin Titans.” However, the actress admitted that emotions had overwhelmed her, making it difficult to properly address fans on camera.

According to her, she had made several attempts to record a thank-you video, but each effort ended in tears.

“Thank you so much, ToyinTitans.

Thank you, everyone.

I’ve been trying to record a thank-you video, but each time my husband starts recording, the tears keep coming,” she wrote.

The actress explained that she wanted to present herself strong and composed rather than emotional, especially given the magnitude of the achievement.

“And I don’t want to cry on camera; I want to show up as a billionaire geng that we are,” she added.

Despite her emotional state, Abraham assured fans that a proper appreciation message would be shared soon, promising to return with a more detailed video once she regains composure.

“I’ll be back with a proper thank-you video in a few days,” she said.

She also used the opportunity to encourage continued support for Oversabi Aunty, noting that the film is still screening in cinemas across Nigeria and in selected Odeon cinemas in the United Kingdom.

“Oversabi Aunty is still showing in cinemas near you, including select Odeon cinemas in the UK.

Please keep watching, keep supporting, and keep telling others.

I love you all.

Thank you once again,” Abraham wrote, signing off with hashtags linked to the film and her fan base.

The ₦1 billion milestone comes just days after Abraham announced that the movie had surpassed ₦950 million at the box office. At the time, she described the moment as surreal, stating that the success felt like a dream.

The actress has enjoyed a steady rise in box office dominance in recent years. In 2024, her film Alakada Bad and Boujee ranked as the fifth highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time, further reinforcing her commercial appeal.

Her contributions to the Nigerian film industry have not gone unnoticed. Last year, Silverbird honoured Abraham with the Trailblazer Award at the 2024 Silverbird Man of the Year ceremony. She was celebrated for being fearless, dynamic, and for redefining Nollywood through her work as both an actress and producer.

While acknowledging the recognition, Abraham described the award as a reminder that dedication and consistency eventually pay off. She noted that her journey had not been smooth but that every challenge contributed to her growth.

In an earlier post, the actress made it clear that she considers herself her biggest competition, stressing that her focus remains on improving with each project rather than measuring herself against others. She also reiterated her appreciation for fans and collaborators who have supported her career over the years.

With Oversabi Aunty now firmly in the ₦1 billion club, Toyin Abraham’s latest achievement marks another defining chapter in her Nollywood journey—one driven by resilience, audience loyalty, and an ever-growing box office legacy.
