Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke and the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo, has publicly responded to claims made by a member of the actor’s family regarding her recent eviction from a Lagos property.
Her reaction follows a report published by Punch Newspaper, in which a family source of the actor alleged that Aladuke was fully aware of the circumstances surrounding the eviction and that the development was the result of a bank recovery process, not a deliberate action by Adebayo.
According to the family member, the property in question was reportedly acquired through a bank loan obtained by Adebayo. Following alleged repayment issues, the bank was said to have initiated foreclosure proceedings. The source further claimed that after the process began, Adebayo ensured that Aladuke, her relatives, and staff were relocated to a short-let apartment, which he allegedly paid for in full.
Reacting strongly to the claims, Iyan Aladuke said she had initially chosen to remain silent despite going through emotional distress but felt compelled to speak out due to what she described as continued misrepresentation of facts.
She recalled that she was heavily criticised and falsely accused last year, but noted that supportive individuals stood by her during that period. According to her, the recent developments have exposed what she described as a pattern of lies and image management.
“I’m going through a tough time and really didn’t want to air it on social media, but here I am. Last year, I was bashed and falsely accused, but thank God for the good people around me who stood by me. Now it seems the tables have turned—what was meant to disgrace me has turned to glory. The lies are falling apart, and people are seeing the true character,” she wrote.
Aladuke questioned what outcome was expected following the alleged manner in which the eviction was carried out, claiming that armed men were deployed to remove occupants from the property.
“What did you expect when you took almost 20 armed men to a public place to evict people? Of course, the news would spread! You started it, keep fueling,” she stated.
She further alleged that her elderly mother was forcefully removed from the property despite the actor allegedly knowing she would be present to assist with her child.
“My aged mother was thrown out with a G*n, knowing fully well she’ll be there as she comes around to help me with my child! Who are you to talk to me about God! You don’t know God! You only put up the act,” she added.
Aladuke accused Adebayo of attempting to control the narrative by allegedly attacking her reputation, stating that she would no longer remain silent.
“You always want to silence me by targeting my reputation. I’m done keeping quiet! You can’t silence me anymore! The desperation to save your name, you don’t care who goes down! I’m not going down with your lies!” she said.
She also called on Punch Newspaper to retract what she described as misleading information, stressing that her silence had been for the sake of their child.
“Whoever published those false narratives in Punch Newspapers should retract them. I’m only quiet because of my son—please don’t push me!” she warned.
In another allegation, Aladuke claimed that the actor staged a school visit to their son after allegedly being absent for over a year, suggesting it was a public relations move.
“You staged a visit to his school on Wednesday after being absent for a whole year, even when your office is just a few minutes’ walk from home! You took a picture to garnish your image, watched us thrown out of my marital home on Friday, and now published the visit in Punch,” she wrote.
She said she anticipated the publication once she learned of the visit, adding, “I knew what was coming the moment I was told of your impromptu visit and picture play.”
The controversy comes days after reports emerged that Aladuke’s eatery in Yaba was sealed by the Armed Forces over an alleged unpaid bank loan. The incident sparked public reactions, including commentary from popular blogger Yeye Kudi Court, who raised concerns over the alleged treatment of Aladuke and her autistic child.
Yeye Kudi Court had claimed that Aladuke was asked to vacate both her residence and business premises without notice, even while customers were present.
The marital breakdown between Aladuke and Adebayo has remained a subject of public interest. At different times, Aladuke hinted at reconciliation, sharing throwback videos of family moments and playful clips with the actor. She had also accused a colleague, Olatoun Olanrewaju, of interfering in her marriage—an allegation Olanrewaju denied, insisting she was not responsible for the situation.
Observers also noted that the estranged couple unfollowed each other on Instagram, fuelling speculation about the depth of their separation. Their split surprised many, especially after Aladuke had organised an elaborate birthday surprise for Adebayo earlier last year, complete with a musical performance at their home.
