Nollywood actress and filmmaker Yewande Adekoya has opened up once again about one of the most painful chapters of her life, recalling how a miscarriage she suffered in 2013 permanently altered her outlook on life and strengthened her belief in God.

The actress shared the deeply personal account in an emotional video posted on her verified Instagram page, where she reflected on the events surrounding her first pregnancy and the spiritual experience that followed.

According to Adekoya, the pregnancy initially progressed normally until unexpected complications set in. Recounting the moment everything changed, she said, “A few years ago, I remember it was 2013. I was pregnant at the time. After some months, I started to bleed, so I was rushed to the hospital. I knew I was miscarrying, like I was about losing the baby.”

She explained that medical examinations later confirmed her fears, as doctors informed her that the baby could not be saved. She was told that an evacuation procedure would be required the following day, news that left her emotionally shattered.

“They told me the baby had died and we needed to do an evacuation. I had been told that evacuation was very painful. I was so sad that I’d lost my baby. I was in serious pain. I cried all through the night,” she recalled.

Beyond the grief of losing her pregnancy, Adekoya said fear gripped her as she thought about the medical procedure ahead. Being her first pregnancy, the emotional weight felt overwhelming.

“I was also afraid of the evacuation process that was going to be done for me in the morning. If this whole miscarriage process is this painful, how would evacuation be?” she asked.

The actress revealed that she eventually fell asleep after being given medication at the hospital, but what followed in her sleep left a lasting impression on her life.

“In my dream, a man came to me. He was wearing white. He was dressed like a doctor. And then he came to me and said, ‘It is time.’ I said, ‘For what?’ He said, ‘For your evacuation process,’” she narrated.

According to Adekoya, the evacuation procedure took place within the dream, feeling real and vivid. When she woke up shortly afterward, she noticed something unusual happening in her body.

“As soon as I sat up in bed, I felt a heavy push in my bowel. I felt like something was coming through,” she said.

She explained that she immediately went to the bathroom, where the miscarriage completed itself naturally, without any surgical intervention.

“As soon as I got into the bathroom and stood at the centre of the bathroom, the baby that died fell to the ground. Blood, formation, whatever. It fell to the ground,” Adekoya recounted.

Following the incident, doctors examined her condition and confirmed that no evacuation was required, as the miscarriage had already occurred fully.

“When the doctors came, they did a scan, and they said there would be no need for an evacuation because the baby was no longer there. It had come out itself, and I was fine to go home,” she said.

Reflecting on the experience years later, the actress said it remains one of the strongest reasons her faith in God has never wavered.

“So I asked him, can you confidently say there is no God? In my dream, somebody performed an evacuation process on me, and I woke up, and the baby came out itself without any pain,” she stated.

Adekoya acknowledged that life’s trials are often difficult to understand but maintained that she believes divine purpose is always at work.

“Tell me God is not kind. His ways might not be our way. Sometimes we don’t understand how he moves, but it’s not our business to understand how God moves. It’s our business to trust that he knows best,” she said.

She concluded by affirming that her life experiences, including the miscarriage, have convinced her of God’s presence and faithfulness.

“I cannot come out and say there is no God because I have experienced a lot of things that I know are not ordinary. There is God, and He is faithful,” Adekoya added.
