Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has appealed for urgent support after being evicted from her residence by her landlady, despite plans to renew her lease.

The actress took to TikTok Live to share her distress, revealing both her housing dilemma and ongoing health challenges. “God bless you all. I will put you guys along, okay. You will see everything, you’ll see it from the hospital. Do not abandon me at the time of my need,” she said.

Halima also reflected on her long-standing struggles, stating, “I am not hiding it from Day One that this is what I am going through.

For 9 years, you guys still know. We don’t eat money meant for something; God doesn’t want that. Everywhere there is no help, I have looked.”

Her story has sparked an outpouring of sympathy from fans online.

One Instagram user, richa_diva, commented, “May God come through for her.” Another, _odoziaku, wrote, “She’s been going through a lot for years now, God please help this lady.”

angelbb_the_therapist added, “This lady has really suffered El-Roi, please see her and have mercy on her.” Fans also reflected on her past success, with queen_loveth1 saying, “Every time I come across news of her, I can’t believe it’s the same successful actress that trended back in the days,” while onyi_dc lamented, “This breaks my heart, after her issue with Suleiman she never remain the same.”

The actress’s revelation has reignited discussions about the pressures faced by Nollywood stars behind the glamour and the urgent need for support systems for those struggling with both personal and professional crises.

Halima Abubakar, born on June 12, 1985, in Kano and originally from Kogi State, rose to prominence as a Nollywood actress and won the 2011 Afro Hollywood Best Actress award early in her career.

Her highly publicized health struggles began in 2022, when Halima first went public about an undisclosed illness that left her bedridden and struggling with recurring pain and health complications. During this period, her family publicly warned Pastor Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries to stay away from her while she was unwell.

There was widespread speculation online, with some reports suggesting she was battling an autoimmune condition, which can arise naturally and has no spiritual link.

At the center of controversy was Halima’s claim that her illness and personal turmoil were tied to her alleged relationship with Apostle Johnson Suleman. She alleged they had been involved romantically, that he had promised to marry her, and that she suffered multiple pregnancies and losses including experiencing prolonged bleeding after three pregnancies she claimed were linked to him. She also alleged that he engaged in sexual activity with her during these times, which she said contributed to her deteriorating health.

Suleman consistently denied all allegations, describing them as false, defamatory, and malicious. In response to her public accusations, in January 2023 he filed a ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit against Halima. The legal battle continued into 2024, and on April 9, 2024, a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, ruled that she must pay ₦10 million in damages for the defamatory claims and retract her statements.

Despite the mounting legal pressure and media attention, Halima initially maintained her claims. However, in October 2024, she publicly apologized to Apostle Suleman in a letter shared on social media. In the letter, she admitted to making false allegations and expressed deep regret for the damage her statements had caused to him, his family, and the leadership of Omega Fire Ministries. She stated that she was not thinking clearly at the time and asked for forgiveness, acknowledging that her apology could not undo the harm caused.

Apostle Suleman acknowledged her apology but clarified that “forgiveness is not memory loss,” indicating that while he accepted the gesture, the dispute’s history would not simply be forgotten.

Throughout these years, Halima’s narrative has intertwined her health struggles, legal battles, and public controversies especially around her allegations involving the clericmaking her personal challenges one of the most talked-about celebrity disputes in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.

Halima Abubakar’s recent eviction and public plea for help highlight how far her personal struggles have extended, both financially and health-wise. Once celebrated for her success in Nollywood, she now faces the harsh realities of illness, legal battles, and housing insecurity. Her story underscores the pressures behind the glamour, reminding fans and the public that even well-known celebrities can experience vulnerability, hardship, and the urgent need for support.
