A Nigerian man who first grabbed internet fame in 2022 for receiving what social media users called a “bombastic side eye” from celebrity nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has once again climbed into the spotlight this time with serious allegations against the businessman.
The gentleman, whose brief 2022 encounter with the popular socialite exploded into memes and widespread debate, resurfaced online claiming that his life has taken a downward trajectory ever since Cubana Chief Priest gifted him ₦500,000 following the viral episode.
In a new video currently doing the rounds on social media, the man asserted that rather than inspiring good fortunes, the cash gift brought him misfortune and “spiritual problems.” He warned that things “no go well” for him since receiving the money and dramatically appealed to Cubana Chief Priest to share his bank details so he could refund the exact amount insisting he only received ₦500,000, not the millions some users wrongly believed.
Speaking in a mix of English and Pidgin, he declared in part:
“Cubana Chief Priest, send your account back I want to return your money, your money has never done good to me. It’s almost as if the money collected my glory.”
He went further to threaten legal action, saying the original viral clip of Cubana Chief Priest’s expression still “dey pain” him and that he was ready to take the matter to court if not addressed.
The resurfaced video has sparked fresh reactions from netizens, many of whom question the timing and nature of his claims while others mock or criticize his reasoning.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE STANDOUT SOCIAL MEDIA RESPONSES:
@Sholzzola:
“I don’t even understand what going. It’s now this thought came to his mind after he’s spent all the money.
@kaymicky007:
“No need to stress. Go him club order for drinks wey reach 500k. Once u pay tell dem to return d drinks say u no need am again den u waka comot d club. The account u r paying into is definitely his account so don’t come to social media to make post like dis”
@Airbooka:
“Once I see someone make a video about something they could send directly to the person, I already know it’s clout‑chasing. What baffles me is that these guys always do it with folks far more influential than them forgetting that they live in a lawless country and can be locked away without due process.”
The resurfaced video has sparked widespread discussion online, highlighting how viral moments can continue to shape public perception and personal experiences long after they occur. While the claims are still developing, the situation has drawn attention to the complex dynamics between social media fame, public figures, and those who find themselves unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight.
