Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has expressed frustration and anger after being stranded in Ekiti State due to repeated flight cancellations by United Nigeria Airline, threatening to pursue legal action over the ordeal.

Ogunmola, who had traveled to Ekiti for work, was scheduled to return to Lagos on Wednesday for another filming engagement. However, her plans were disrupted after the airline canceled her flight twice within 48 hours, leaving her stuck without prior notice and scrambling for alternative arrangements.

In an emotional Instagram video shared on Thursday morning, the actress warned that she would be taking legal steps. “Lawyer will take this up,” she declared.

Describing the ordeal, Bolaji said, “I was supposed to fly yesterday. I got to the airport and they said that something happened and that flight was delayed. I waited for hours after which they said they are not flying again, that they’ve cancelled the flight.”

She explained the confusion and lack of assistance from the airline, saying, “And I said ok, you have cancelled the flight, what’s the plan? I need to get to Lagos. They’re like ok, there’s nothing they can do. I tried Akure as well but nothing happened. So, this morning they said they are going to fly 8:am this morning and I have to pay for hotel, pay bills. And I woke up this morning by 5am and rushed to the airport by 6:30am, some people also met me here and they said oh, we’re still flying is not for 8am again is for 9:30am.”

She recounted further delays that added to her frustration. “This is very painful because you could have just sent a message because I’m working today and there was no conversation, nothing was said. They later said the 9:30 flight has been moved to 12pm, and now they said they are going to move by 5:30, and I’m supposed to be on set. As we speak, my crew production, everything are all on set. I’m going to take this up because I’m not the type to start yelling and fighting.”

Bolaji also highlighted how the airline’s mismanagement affected her professionally and financially. “I’m doing this video to have evidence of what just happened to me. And literally, I’m stuck in a State I don’t know anybody. I’m waiting for a car to come and pick me so that I can get to Lagos and I don’t know the time I’m going to get to Lagos. It’s not only my time they are toying with, it’s actually the source of my livelihood as well. I’m literally stuck and outside here, and there is no reason why that is happening. I have to go by road which is very unsafe and my lawyer will take this up. They are not remorseful, they are unfair and they don’t have any form of decency.”

The actress’s experience comes just a month after the commencement of commercial flight operations in Ekiti State, highlighting ongoing challenges with the new airline’s scheduling and customer service.

Bolaji’s warning underscores the wider impact of flight disruptions on professionals who rely on timely travel for work. Her determination to escalate the matter legally reflects a growing trend of public figures holding service providers accountable, particularly in Nigeria’s burgeoning domestic airline sector.

The actress’s video has since sparked conversations on social media about the responsibilities of airlines to communicate delays promptly and provide solutions for stranded passengers.

As Ogunmola awaits resolution, it remains unclear how the airline will respond to her legal threat and complaints about repeated cancellations and lack of support.
