Nollywood actress and content creator Ashabi has spoken out following her recent public altercation with her singer baby daddy, Portable, shedding light on what she described as a violent and traumatic New Year incident.
The drama between the pair became public after a viral video surfaced online showing them engaged in a heated confrontation, during which Ashabi was heard daring the singer to kill her. Shortly after, Portable took to Instagram to share his side of the story, accusing Ashabi of storming his house to attack his family.
According to Portable, Ashabi allegedly assaulted his pregnant wife, pointed guns at his children, and caused chaos in his home. He also claimed Ashabi’s mother accused him of using charms on her daughter and questioned why he had not bought her a car.
However, Ashabi has firmly denied these allegations, offering a detailed account of events in a video statement. She explained that she and her siblings had gone to celebrate the New Year with the singer when the situation escalated.
“When my siblings and I went to celebrate the New Year with you, you pushed me and sl@pped me. You then brought out an axe and forcefully took all our phones. You gave my younger brother a blow in his eye; till now, he can’t open the eye. You sl@pped my younger sister, I had to run to your office and hide,” she said.
Ashabi further alleged that the incident took a more frightening turn after she sought refuge.
“My siblings said you brought out a calabash and poured water on the floor. When I got out from your office in order to go home, you pulled me back and said you would cut me with the axe.”
Addressing public criticism over her continued association with Portable, the Yoruba actress revealed that the singer often emotionally manipulates her into staying.
“People are always wondering what I’m still doing with you since you don’t love me. I wish they knew how you always cry and beg me not to leave you. You always cry and say you once ran m@d, how do they expect me to dump you with your mental illness after all, you are my kids father,” she stated.
Ashabi also debunked claims that she assaulted Portable’s wife, Bewaji, describing the accusation as completely false. She expressed disappointment that Bewaji did not publicly clarify the matter.
“I h@te false allegations. You said I went to b€@t your wife? If I were your wife, I’d come out to say, please don’t implicate me. We have never stood face-to-face before. Let her come out and say that I, Ashabi, came to her house to be@t her up.”
Emphasising her self-worth, Ashabi added, “I prefer to remain a babymama than collecting a ring in a disrespectful way.”
Portable and Ashabi’s relationship has been marked by frequent controversy since they publicly confirmed their romance over two years ago, despite the singer being married. Their bond has survived several public fallouts, with both parties repeatedly reconciling after explosive disputes.
In October last year, Portable publicly accused Ashabi of accepting advertisements from wealthy men and revealed that she was planning a trip to South Africa. He claimed his attempts to stop the trip by getting her pregnant were unsuccessful. Surprisingly, he later appeared to reconcile with her by promoting the trip on his Instagram page.
Earlier incidents also include Portable accusing Ashabi in June of trying to turn his wife against him by feeding her negative information, alleging that she was chasing clout and attempting to destabilise his marriage. In March, the singer also criticised Ashabi after taking only his wife on a trip to London, accusing her of competing with Bewaji, whom he described as peaceful.
Despite the ongoing turbulence, the relationship between Portable and Ashabi continues to play out publicly, keeping fans and observers closely watching every twist and turn.
