Big Brother Naija reality star and actress, Tega Dominic, has been appointed as Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment to the newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu.

The announcement was made public on Thursday, January 29, 2026, through a post shared on the official Instagram story of the guild, drawing attention across the entertainment industry.

Tega, who rose to fame following her appearance in the 2021 ‘Shine Ya Eye’ edition of the BBNaija reality show, has since built a career in acting and public engagement.

Her new role within the AGN places her at the forefront of efforts aimed at addressing sexual harassment within Nollywood and promoting a safer working environment for actors and industry professionals.

Reacting to the appointment, Tega shared her official letter on Instagram and expressed her readiness to take on the responsibility.

She outlined her commitment to ensuring that issues of sexual harassment are handled with seriousness and transparency.

According to her, the focus of her role will be on education, awareness and accountability, with an emphasis on maintaining zero tolerance for any form of harassment within the industry.

She further stressed the importance of providing protection and support for survivors, as well as establishing safe and confidential reporting systems that encourage victims to speak up without fear of victimisation.

Tega also highlighted the need to promote a culture where respect remains non-negotiable among professionals in the entertainment sector.

The appointment comes at a time when conversations around workplace harassment and the safety of actors have become increasingly prominent in Nigeria’s film industry.

Stakeholders have continued to call for stronger policies and enforcement mechanisms to protect individuals from abuse and exploitation.

Observers believe that Tega’s selection for the advisory role reflects the AGN leadership’s commitment to addressing sensitive issues affecting members of the guild.

Her experience as a public figure and her advocacy for social issues are expected to contribute positively to the development of practical solutions aimed at safeguarding actors and other professionals.

Tega first gained national recognition during her time on BBNaija, where her personality and openness sparked widespread discussions among viewers.

Since leaving the reality show, she has remained active in the entertainment scene, taking on acting roles and engaging in conversations around social development.

Her appointment has generated mixed reactions, with many applauding the move as a progressive step toward reform within Nollywood.

Supporters have noted that involving influential figures like Tega could help drive awareness campaigns and encourage victims of harassment to come forward.

As the Actors Guild of Nigeria continues efforts to strengthen professionalism and accountability in the industry, Tega’s role as Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment is expected to play a significant part in shaping policies and initiatives that prioritise the welfare of members.

Industry watchers will be keen to see how the initiative unfolds and the impact it will have on creating a safer and more respectful environment within Nollywood.
