Toyin Abraham’s directorial debut, Oversabi Aunty, has continued its impressive run at the Nigerian box office, recording a major milestone just days after its release.
The comedy-drama has grossed over ₦382 million in just 11 days, making it the second-biggest Nollywood film of the weekend in 2025 and one of the strongest-performing titles of the year so far.
The film, which stars Toyin Abraham in the lead role, tells the story of a well-meaning but overly involved aunty who constantly inserts herself into other people’s affairs in a bid to “help.”

The positive word-of-mouth from the screening helped build momentum ahead of its nationwide cinema release on December 19, which has since translated into strong ticket sales across the country.

The actress also urged movie lovers who are yet to see the film to visit cinemas, describing Oversabi Aunty as more than just entertainment. According to her, the movie is packed with real-life lessons that audiences can relate to beyond the comedy.
