Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu has expressed deep shock and disbelief following the reported death of her colleague, Allwell Ademola, saying she is still unable to come to terms with the tragic news.
The news of Allwell’s passing, which reportedly occurred after a heart attack, spread rapidly online on Saturday and triggered emotional reactions across the entertainment industry. Many actors and fans took to social media to mourn her, but Chukwu’s reaction stood out for its raw honesty and visible pain.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress openly admitted that she is refusing to accept the reality of her colleague’s death, stressing that they had ongoing plans to work together. According to her, the two had been preparing for the sequel of a project titled Aarin, making the news even more difficult to process.
“ENIOBANKE, I AM STILL IN DENIAL
I REFUSE TO ACCEPT O
WE HAVE BEEN PLANNING THE SHOOT FOR AARIN SEQUEL TOGETHER O
SO I REFUSE TO ACCEPT YOU ARE GONE!
ALL IS NOT WELL RIGHT NOW,” she wrote.
Her emotional outburst reflects the disbelief and heartbreak many within the Yoruba movie industry are currently experiencing following the sudden loss.
Regina Chukwu’s reaction adds to the growing list of emotional tributes pouring in from Nollywood practitioners who have struggled to process the frequency of deaths in the industry. Over the past months, several actors and entertainers have passed on, prompting colleagues to repeatedly call for prayers, reflection, and divine protection.
The actress herself is no stranger to grief and loss. In September, she joined fellow actress Funmi Awelewa in mourning the death of comedian Sanku Comedy. At the time, Chukwu expressed deep sympathy for his mother, while Awelewa revealed that she had prayed against death but accepted that God’s will ultimately prevailed. Awelewa described the late comedian’s journey as one marked by pain, effort, resilience, and struggle.
Chukwu has also previously paid tribute to veteran actor Oloto, describing him as a true mentor and a boss who played a key role in supporting her career. She praised him for his guidance and kindness, offering prayers for his soul to rest in peace.
Beyond mourning colleagues, Regina Chukwu has been open about her own personal challenges. Earlier this month, she emotionally addressed the loss of access to her Instagram account, revealing how devastated she felt over losing years of memories, connections, and hard work built on the platform. In a video shared at the time, she admitted feeling frustrated but resolved to start again and move forward despite the setback.
In a separate revelation, the actress once opened up about the painful circumstances surrounding the death of her husband. She disclosed that her youngest child was only four months old when her husband passed away after battling a severe illness. According to her, the illness drained their finances and took a heavy emotional toll on the family. Chukwu recounted how her late husband, overwhelmed by pain, once begged his mother to allow him die as a form of mercy.
These past experiences appear to have deepened her sensitivity to loss, making the news of Allwell Ademola’s death even harder for her to process.
As condolences continue to pour in, fans and colleagues alike are hoping that Regina Chukwu, along with the rest of the Nollywood community, finds strength and comfort during this difficult time.
