Renowned broadcast journalist and media entrepreneur Morayo Afolabi-Brown has officially announced the launch of a new national talk programme, The Morayo Show, signaling a major new phase in her broadcasting journey following her exit from TVC. The show is positioned as a people-driven platform focused on meaningful dialogue around Nigeria’s social, cultural and emotional realities.

The daily live programme is scheduled to premiere on January 5, 2026, and will air every weekday across News Central TV, NTA Lagos and TVC Entertainment. It will also be accessible through multiple digital platforms, ensuring wide national and online reach.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, Afolabi-Brown explained that the new show was born out of a desire to shift conversations away from elite-centred narratives and instead give ordinary Nigerians a stronger voice in shaping national discourse.

She said, “The Morayo Show is designed as an interactive, live platform where real people are participants, not spectators. Our goal is to foster conversations that are inclusive, human, and impactful; conversations that reflect the realities, questions, and aspirations of Nigerians.”

According to her, the programme will be produced from a newly built studio located on the Lagos Mainland. The facility, she revealed, also represents the unveiling of what its promoters describe as the first premium television studio of its kind in that part of the city. Beyond hosting the talk show, the space will function as a creative hub for interviews, podcasts, film premieres and other professional media productions, expanding access to high-quality broadcast infrastructure beyond traditional commercial centres.

With more than two decades of experience in television and media, Afolabi-Brown described the project as a reflection of a personal and professional evolution.

She explained, “After 12 years, something really shifted. I realised that I was no longer fulfilled simply talking at people. I felt a strong call to start talking with people.”

Expanding on the philosophy guiding the programme, she added, “Nigeria does not suffer from a lack of opinions; we suffer from a lack of listening. We lack safe, held spaces for expression. This show was born from that conviction.”

She noted that The Morayo Show will adopt a daily live audience format built around what she described as “real people, real issues, real stories and real solutions,” stressing that modern media must be interactive, inclusive and rooted in human experiences.

The programme will examine a wide range of themes, including society, culture, relationships, family life, faith, identity, leadership, entrepreneurship, creativity and national development. These topics, she said, will be explored through the lived realities of everyday Nigerians rather than elite commentary alone.

Highlighting audience participation as a central feature, Afolabi-Brown stated, “The camera stands with the audience. These are the Nigerian people. I will be moderating conversations with about 80 audience members, alongside guests and social media participants, so Nigerians can hear Nigerians speak truth to power.”

Also speaking at the unveiling, the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of News Central Television, Kayode Akintemi, described the partnership as one that aligns strongly with the station’s long-term vision.

He said, “This partnership reflects our commitment to building a future-ready media organisation anchored on quality journalism, strong partnerships and sustained growth. The Morayo Show aligns firmly with our vision to put our finger on the pulse of the nation by creating credible platforms where diverse and often silenced voices can thrive.”

Akintemi added that the show has been scheduled for a 7:00 pm primetime slot on News Central, a decision aimed at maximising reach and audience engagement across the country.

Also commenting, Olukunle Folarin, Director of Programmes at TVC Entertainment & New Media, described the initiative as a natural progression in Afolabi-Brown’s career.

He said, “We are incredibly proud to support Morayo Afolabi-Brown as she embarks on this new journey. The Morayo Show reflects what she does best: sharing opinions, giving people a platform to speak their truth and fostering inclusive dialogue that inspires positive change.”

According to the organisers, the programme will be sustained through strategic partnerships and sponsorships, with brands expected to come on board following the official studio launch slated for December 18.

Concluding the event, Afolabi-Brown described the project as more than just another media venture.

She said, “This is not the end of my career. This is the beginning of my calling. I am deeply excited, humbly grateful, and profoundly expectant of what lies ahead. I am looking forward to building a better Nigeria with this show.”
