Liquorose has opened up about the origin of her famous stage name, revealing that it was born from a mix of spontaneity, personality, and her real identity.
The popular dancer and reality TV star shared the story during a recent conversation with media personality VJ Adams, where she traced the name back to more than a decade ago.
According to her, the name “Liquorose” came to life on December 31, 2012, during a playful moment of self-reflection.
She explained that the choice was influenced by her love for liquor and her birth name, Rosaline. Liquorose noted that the combination felt natural, catchy, and symbolic of a part of her personality she rarely shows.
“I picked Liquorose on December 31st, 2012. I like liquor, and my name is Rosaline as well,” she said, adding that the name became something she quickly embraced despite being a shy person.
She also recalled her mother teasing her about her timid nature, saying in their language that “alcohol is never shy”, a comment that has stayed with her over the years and continues to shape how she sees the name.
While Liquorose has built a successful career and a strong fan base, she admitted that the demands of her work often keep her away from home for long periods. She confessed that she rarely visits, something she says makes her feel guilty because of the close bond she shares with her family.
“I don’t go home often; it’s bad. I miss my home, I miss my bed,” she said, reflecting on how her busy schedule has created distance between her and her loved ones. She spoke fondly about her family, describing them as a tight unit that knows how to uplift each other with stories, jokes, and shared memories.
“We are very close in my family, and we know how to make each other laugh. We have stories we tell each other. I miss that,” she added.
Liquorose revealed that the last time she visited her neighbourhood was the previous year during her annual charity outreach, a tradition she keeps every December. She said the visit was emotional for her because she always feels grounded whenever she returns to her roots.
“The last time I was in the hood was last year because I do this charity stuff every December. That was the last time, and it’s bad,” she said.
Despite the pressures of fame, Liquorose’s reflections show that she remains deeply connected to her beginnings.
Her story about how her name came to be and her longing for home offers fans a rare personal look into the life of a star who is constantly in the spotlight, yet still holds on to the simplicity of where she started.
