Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade has finally addressed ongoing speculations surrounding her age, setting the record straight in a humorous yet firm manner. The talented movie star took to her Instagram page to share a direct message (DM) she received from a cinematographer who assumed she would be turning 50 next year.
The cinematographer, identified as Virtue, reached out with a well-meaning but inaccurate proposal, offering to cover what he believed would be Adunni Ade’s 50th birthday celebration at no cost.
The message read:
"Hello, mama.
Good afternoon
My name is Virtue, I’m a Cinematographer, my brand handle is @virtueshotit.
I would love to cover your 50th birthday event next year for free.
Just lemme know when you’re prepping and the venue when you’re ready”.
While the gesture was generous, Adunni Ade couldn’t help but laugh at the assumption. Reacting publicly, the Nollywood actress expressed amusement and mild frustration over what she described as Nigerians’ obsession with age, especially when it comes to female celebrities.
In her response, Adunni humorously shut down the narrative, making it clear that she is nowhere near 50.
She wrote:
“I don laugh, Taya! I know @virtueshotit means well, but I can’t stop laughing.
Nigerians sey you people can see what you’ve caused bayi?? For the very, very, very, very, very last time! I am not 48 Abi 49 de ni. You people can be obsessed with age!!! Ah!!! , e jooooo ooooo! Don’t add to my sikini age oooo. E go still tey small. T for thanks …”
Despite correcting the misconception, Adunni Ade maintained a professional tone and encouraged the cinematographer to improve his visibility online, suggesting a possible collaboration in the future.
She added:
“@virtueshotit, try posting more so I can see how good you are. Maybe at my next party I’ll contact you”.
