Nigerian music icon and YBNL founder, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, has declared that he is entering a new season of his life one where he prioritizes himself, his well-being, and his personal growth above everything else.

The award-winning rapper, known for nurturing some of the biggest acts in the industry, revealed that he is now fully committed to focusing on his own music journey and self-development.

Speaking during an interview on Flow 98.7 FM, Olamide admitted that he has spent most of his career helping to build and support other artists, often placing their needs before his own.

According to him, the time has come to redirect his energy inward and give himself the same level of dedication he has given others.

“All my life, I’ve been trying to be there for people and also trying to do my stuff. But right now, I’m really just trying to focus on myself 100 percent,” he said.

His statement reflects a deliberate shift—one that signals a new chapter for the rapper who has long been recognized as one of Nigeria’s most influential music mentors.

From discovering raw talent to turning upcoming artists into national sensations, Olamide has played a transformative role in shaping the sound and story of contemporary Nigerian music.

As the head of YBNL Nation, he has propelled the careers of several successful acts, including Lil Kesh, Asake, Pheelz, Young John, Adekunle Gold (former YBNL affiliate), and Fireboy DML, who has grown into an international star under Olamide’s guidance.

Beyond his record label, Olamide has consistently collaborated with top industry names such as Zlatan Ibile, Naira Marley, Portable, CDQ, and many others, solidifying his legacy as both a powerhouse and a kingmaker.

Industry observers note that Olamide’s decision to focus on his personal journey may be long overdue. For years, fans have praised him for his generosity and willingness to elevate younger musicians.

From offering platforms to newcomers to investing in their growth, Olamide has built a reputation for being one of the most supportive figures in the entertainment world.

However, his new position indicates a healthy introspection—one that many believe will usher in another creative era for him. While Olamide has continued dropping hits and impactful projects over the years, he has rarely taken extended breaks to focus solely on himself.

His decision to step back from helping others for now, according to him, is not out of bitterness but out of necessity.

This new phase signifies a personal reset—a move to protect his mental well-being, refresh his artistic identity, and reconnect with his individual goals without distraction.

Fans across social media have reacted positively, commending the rapper for choosing self-care and encouraging him to take all the time he needs. Many believe that this renewed focus could result in some of his strongest music yet.

For now, Olamide remains grateful, reflective, and intentional. And while he may no longer be actively pushing new talents at the moment, his legacy as a mentor, a trailblazer, and a pillar of the Nigerian music industry remains unquestioned.
