Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold has announced that he will no longer be performing at the much-talked-about Music City Central event, citing unresolved issues with the organisers and concerns about the venue’s readiness.
The singer made the disclosure via a statement shared on his official platform, explaining that critical terms earlier agreed upon with the event organisers were not fulfilled. According to him, the situation made it impossible for his team to put together the standard of performance his fans expect.
Adekunle Gold noted that the decision was not taken lightly, stressing that he and his crew were committed to delivering a memorable experience but were constrained by circumstances beyond their control. He explained that the event environment was not adequately prepared to support the quality of production required for his show.
“I won’t be performing at Music City Central today. Unfortunately, due to the organisers not meeting key agreed obligations and the event not being in a state that allows us deliver the kind of show you deserve, we can’t proceed,” the singer said.
The announcement came as a disappointment to many fans who had eagerly anticipated the performance, with several already making plans to attend. Acknowledging this, Adekunle Gold expressed sincere regret to supporters who may have been inconvenienced by the sudden development.
He reassured fans that their support does not go unnoticed and emphasised that his decision was guided by respect for them and his craft. According to the singer, he would rather cancel a show than present something that falls below the standard he has built his reputation on over the years.
“I know many of you made plans to see me, and I don’t take that for granted,” he added, appreciating fans for their continued loyalty and enthusiasm.
The award-winning artiste also assured fans that the cancellation does not signal a break from live performances. Instead, he promised that future shows and appearances would be properly communicated through his verified platforms to avoid confusion or misinformation.
Adekunle Gold reiterated his commitment to excellence, noting that every performance is carefully planned to ensure fans get value for their time, money, and energy. He stressed that maintaining this standard remains a top priority for him, regardless of the circumstances.
“Thank you for your love and understanding. Please rely on my official pages for any further updates,” he concluded.
The cancellation has sparked conversations online about event organisation and the importance of proper planning in hosting large-scale music shows. Many fans and industry observers praised the singer for prioritising quality and transparency, while others called on organisers to be more professional in meeting contractual and logistical obligations.
Adekunle Gold, known for his soulful sound and energetic stage presence, has built a strong reputation for delivering polished live performances. His decision to step away from the Music City Central event further highlights his insistence on maintaining high standards and protecting the experience he offers his audience.
As fans await updates on his next appearance, the singer remains focused on his music and future engagements, assuring supporters that better and well-prepared shows lie ahead.
