Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has hit back at a troll who left an insensitive comment on her social media page, joining a growing list of Nigerian celebrities who refuse to tolerate online bullying.

The incident reportedly occurred after Toriola had playfully questioned whether an unnamed person’s movie made it to the top 5. A troll took to her comment section to mock her, writing “Olomo Kan”—a Yoruba phrase meaning “mother of one child.”

Known for her bold personality, Toriola didn’t let the comment slide. In response, she urged her fans to curse the troll and warned that the stardom he seeks would bring him trouble instead of peace. She wrote:

**“Unclez

I dont know you, you woke up and typed ‘OLOMO KAN’ on my page.

I don’t understand what you mean, but I want my followers to bless you with a curse.

Onigba omo, e ma sesin ni

Amin

You still dey bully Olomo kan abi, eni jeere

Amin

That stardom, you will get, but it will cause u trouble and will not give you rest

covenant_home.”**

Toriola’s encounter is far from unique, as several Nigerian celebrities have clapped back at trolls in recent months.

Just a day before, actress Bimpe Akintunde prayed for a troll who expressed hatred toward her, noting the irony that he was still stalking her social media stories. Similarly, Allwell Ademola called out a troll who labeled her “mumu,” highlighting that some individuals resort to bullying when attention is not given.

Actress Toyin Abraham responded to a troll criticizing her tummy, saying she’d rather her tummy burst than suffer an ulcer. Yoruba actress Lizzy Jay also clapped back at a troll who called her “dry,” shaming the commenter over their own appearance and warning others not to approach her page with negativity.

Other celebrities have joined the trend of defending themselves online. Last year, actress Ashabi, Portable’s babymama, dismissed a troll who labeled her a babymama, updating them on her health and calling the troll barren. DJ Cuppy responded to a comment about her age by highlighting that she was 32 and still looked good. Veteran actress Genevieve Nnaji reminded an age-shaming troll that nature cannot be cheated and warned that life can get worse.

Actress Nkechi Blessing addressed trolls who criticized her marital status, questioning why it is considered acceptable to attack her personal life simply because she is in the public eye. Similarly, singer Peter Okoye responded to a troll advising him to reconcile with his brother, telling the troll to “cry harder” and providing a bucket for their tears.

Toriola’s response reinforces the growing stance of Nigerian celebrities refusing to tolerate disrespect online, showing that social media fame does not make them targets for unchecked insults.
