Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Cute Abiola, has expressed deep frustration over the rising wave of insecurity in Kwara State, calling on both the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to take immediate action to protect citizens.

His reaction came on the heels of Tuesday’s attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, where suspected bandits invaded the premises during a service, sending worshippers fleeing for safety.

The frightening incident, captured in a viral video, showed an elderly woman struggling to escape as gunfire echoed through the church an image that triggered public outrage.

Taking to his X handle on Wednesday, Cute Abiola said Nigerians were tired of hearing empty assurances each time lives were lost. He stressed that ordinary citizens no longer believed in official statements that do not translate into real security improvements.

Reacting emotionally, he wrote: “What happened in Kwara State is heartbreaking. Seeing that elderly woman running for her life inside a church a place where she should feel safe yet she’s struggling to escape death.

That clip alone says everything about how unsafe we have become as a nation. To the Federal Government of Nigeria and Kwara State Government: Please, we don’t want another press statement. Don’t tell us you are ‘on top of the situation.’ Don’t release promises that die after one week. We need action. We need results. We need protection.”

His comments resonated across social media, with many Nigerians echoing similar frustrations about increasing attacks in communities across the North-Central region.

Several users pointed out that citizens were being forced to live in fear while leaders offered little beyond sympathy messages.

The attack in Eruku adds to the growing list of violent incidents that have rocked Kwara in recent months, raising concerns about the spread of insecurity into states previously considered relatively calm.

Residents say bandits have become more daring, carrying out attacks on villages, churches, and highways with little resistance.

Cute Abiola’s outburst joins a growing chorus of celebrities and public figures who have been using their platforms to demand accountability and urgent intervention. Many say insecurity has reached an unbearable stage and warn that the situation could deteriorate further if decisive steps are not taken.

Security analysts have repeatedly urged the government to strengthen intelligence gathering, increase community policing efforts, and deploy more personnel to vulnerable areas. They also warn that continuous attacks on religious centers could heighten fear and tension among worshippers.

Meanwhile, authorities in Kwara State have condemned the attack and assured residents that investigations are ongoing. However, critics argue that condemnations alone are no longer enough, insisting that people want to see real change.

As conversations continue online, Cute Abiola’s message stands out as a reflection of the public’s growing impatience. Many Nigerians now demand not just words, but visible action to ensure that citizens can worship, travel, and live without fear.
