Nollywood powerhouse Funke Akindele has melted hearts online after openly celebrating her colleague Iyabo Ojo as her Woman Crush Wednesday (WCW).
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Funke shared behind-the-scenes clips of Iyabo on the set of her upcoming movie, Behind the Scenes, where she praised the actress’s performance and personality.
In her post, Funke described Iyabo as “beautiful, stylish, and elegant,” noting that her performance on set was nothing short of phenomenal. The filmmaker added that Iyabo’s craft, confidence, and passion make her one of the best talents in Nollywood.
“My WCW is the beautiful, stylish and elegant Iyabo Ojo! Her performance in Behind the Scenes was absolutely phenomenal. Iyabo continues to prove why she’s one of the best in Nollywood. Her talent, confidence, and passion always shine through every role she plays,” Funke wrote on Instagram.
The post has since gone viral, with fans applauding Funke’s humility and support for her colleague, especially considering their past differences.
Recall that the two actresses were once at loggerheads following an online drama in 2021. Iyabo Ojo had dragged Funke after a blogger criticized Toyin Abraham’s movie The Ghost and the Tout Too, which was released around the same time as Funke’s Omo Ghetto: The Saga.
Their rift, however, ended in 2022 when the duo reconciled publicly at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), where they hugged and exchanged pecks on the red carpet. That moment marked the beginning of a renewed friendship between the two screen divas.
Since then, Funke and Iyabo have maintained a close bond, constantly supporting each other’s achievements and personal milestones.
In June 2025, Funke surprised Iyabo with a brand-new iPhone 16, fulfilling a promise she made to upgrade her friend’s Samsung phone. Iyabo, who shared the gesture on Instagram, expressed gratitude, calling Funke a woman of her word.
A month earlier, Funke had accompanied Iyabo to Tanzania for the wedding finale of her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, a grand event that made headlines across social media.
Also, when Iyabo premiered her latest movie, Labake Olododo, Funke was among the first to celebrate her. She praised the movie’s aesthetics, visuals, and overall production quality, telling Iyabo it was “her time to shine.”
Fans and industry colleagues have since commended Funke Akindele for her positive energy and maturity, describing her as a true example of women supporting women in the Nigerian film industry.
With both actresses now dominating Nollywood in their unique ways Funke as one of the most successful filmmakers and Iyabo as a bold, expressive storyteller their renewed friendship continues to inspire admiration across the entertainment scene.
