Nollywood actress Regina Daniels’ parents are in Abuja as they work to secure the release of her brother, Sammy West, who was reportedly taken there following his arrest in Lagos.
Reports earlier this week indicated that Sammy West was allegedly arrested by Regina’s estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, and moved from Lagos to Abuja. The arrest sparked widespread concern on social media, with many fans expressing outrage over the circumstances.
A video shared online by actress Doris Ogala captured Rita Daniels and her estranged husband making arrangements for Sammy’s release. Doris assured viewers that Sammy would soon be freed.
Social media reactions to the development have been mixed. One user, Joanpinkie, wrote, “This is the time for you to unite your family, give your husband a chance if he has never married. Make this man enjoy small.” Another, firry001, commented, “Peace is finally coming after the storm.” Meanwhile, real_stephanie.kelly remarked, “So you guys remember her father now?”

During the height of the controversy, Rita Daniels had publicly criticised Ned Nwoko, accusing him of being ungrateful and exploiting Regina’s celebrity for personal gain. “He married Regina because he wanted someone with a high star to boost his fallen star,” she had said. “He will go down if he thinks he can bite the finger that fed him.”
Earlier reports revealed that Regina herself had reached out to the public after her brother’s arrest. She claimed that Ned allegedly detained Sammy in an attempt to coerce her into returning to him and entering a rehabilitation programme. She emphasised that she had been trying to remain calm and maintain distance, instructing her estranged husband to leave her family alone.
In another post, Regina noted that her brother had been beaten like a criminal by the Nigerian police, questioning the justification for such treatment. She also highlighted that Ned wields his power, wealth, and connections to intimidate her, despite believing that she lacks influence.
Despite the tensions, Regina made it clear that she does not regret her experiences, describing her marriage as a path she was meant to take, but not her ultimate destination. She also vowed that her ongoing dispute with Ned would serve as a battle of power for the power of aura for aura, signalling her determination to protect her family and assert her independence.
The Daniels family’s efforts in Abuja underscore their commitment to ensuring Sammy West’s safe release, even as public attention continues to follow the unfolding family drama.
