The father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad has ignited controversy with new revelations regarding his relationship with Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi. 

In a detailed recorded statement, the late singer’s father raised questions about who collected the bride price and stressed the importance of conducting a DNA test to verify the child’s parentage. He firmly denied that any traditional wedding had taken place, clarifying that he only attended an introduction ceremony.

“When my son was alive, and Cynthia claimed to be pregnant, I felt it was necessary to meet her family properly. When we got to the venue, I saw a lot of the lady’s family members sitting there. We completed the introduction, and I met my son’s father-in-law for the first time. But I was shocked to hear claims that a traditional wedding happened without any knowledge or even the presence of the family head. Who collected the bride price?” he revealed.

Mohbad’s father added that the late singer had initially intended to formalize the marriage but later withdrew, alleging that Cynthia was unfaithful.

“He said he caught her with another man, informed his friend Myson and his elder sibling and mother, and then decided to tell me. That was why he called off the marriage plans,” the statement continued.

The father emphasized that the circumstances surrounding the alleged unfaithfulness and the disputed marriage prompted his request for a DNA test.

“And that is one of the reasons why I’m asking for DNA,” he said.

This statement follows legal action taken by Omowunmi, who moved to secure the late singer’s estate, ensuring that no unauthorized claims could be made. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions surrounding Mohbad’s legacy, marriage, and estate.
