Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has once again taken a moment to look back on his journey to stardom, sharing a heartfelt reflection on Instagram about how far he has come.

He recalled how actress and producer Yewande Adekoya stood by her decision to cast him in Kudi Klepto, even when people questioned why she chose him. According to Lateef, she “saw the future,” and that singular opportunity became a turning point in his career.

Looking back at where he started, Lateef said all he can say today is “Alhamdulilahi.” He revealed that his first personal project, produced in 2007/2008, didn’t succeed, and at the time he almost gave up.

“Quick one, who remembers my first ever movie I produced personally? I know many of you would say ‘Wale Danger,’ but you’d be wrong.

My first ever movie was O se regi. It was a movie I produced in 2007/2008. It was a project I put everything into, but God had other plans,” he wrote.

He explained that he spent years doing free work before things finally shifted for him.

“Fast forward to 2013, after years of pro bono work, and sweat and blood on the journey to becoming the Adedimeji Lateef you know now.

Kudi Klepto, a production of Yewande Adekoya. When she handpicked me for the role, people questioned her, wondering who I was, but she stood firm. She saw the future; look at God today…”

Lateef stressed that quitting was never an option, even when his early efforts failed.

“From that humble beginning, I look back today, and all I can say is Alhamdulilah. When my personal production didn’t work in 2007/2008, EMI omo lile, give up ke? God forbid bad thing!

I kept hustling and did lots of free jobs before heaven smiled on me with Kudi Klepto. Here is me telling you to never give up, determination and hard work have their reward.”

This isn’t the first time Lateef has reflected on his path. In March, he admitted that his rise wasn’t smooth, but the struggles made his victories sweeter. Earlier this year, he also shared how his mentor once told him he would fail within a year in the industry. Lateef said he boldly responded that in two years, he would prove otherwise.

Last year, he also celebrated his growth with a throwback photo, saying his story is defined by resilience. He noted that if anyone had told him back then that he would become who he is today, he would have dismissed them. In another post, he recounted how he once worked backstage before eventually leading major productions.

Lateef’s message remains clear: persistence pays off, and every stage of the journey has its purpose.
