Nollywood actor Jide Awobona has marked a major personal milestone by earning his Master’s degree, 15 years after completing his first degree. He shared the exciting news on Instagram, expressing gratitude and reflecting on the value of lifelong learning.
“MSc in the 🧳🎓, Thank you Lord 🙏🏾. The day you stop learning is the day you start dying. Against all odds, I did it: 15 years after earning my first degree, I’ve earned my Master’s. Proof that education is a lifelong journey,” Awobona wrote.
The actor also used the post to promote his YouTube channel, adding, “RISE WITH ME coming to JIDE AWOBONA TV YOUTUBE DEC 26th 2025, kindly subscribe to my channel and switch on your notifications.”
Fans and colleagues flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages. Fellow actors Lateef Adedimeji, Seyi Edun, Jumoke Odetola, Bukola Adeeyo, Seiilat, Funmi Awelewa, and Joke Jigan all expressed their joy and pride in his accomplishment.
Awobona joins a growing list of Nigerian entertainers pursuing higher education. Earlier this year, reality star Pepper Dem winner returned to school for her Master’s in Business Administration in the UK, saying she was done playing and was focused on chasing her dreams. Skitmaker Sabinus’ wife, Ciana Chapman, also earned a Master’s Degree in International Business with distinction, balancing studies with pregnancy.
Other notable achievements include actor Akeem Adeyemi, who earned a Master’s in International Business from the UK last year; Wumi Toriola, who completed her Master’s at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in 2023; and Jumoke Odetola, who graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration.
Additionally, Nollywood stars like Regina Daniels, Yoruba actress Lola Magret, gospel singer Lanre Teriba, and Fuji maestro Shaku Shaku Osupa have all celebrated academic milestones, ranging from bachelor’s to master’s degrees, showing a strong trend of entertainers prioritizing education alongside their careers.
Awobona’s achievement serves as a reminder that education is a lifelong journey, and that persistence and determination can help anyone achieve their goals, no matter how long it takes.
