Popular Nigerian comedian I Go Save has stirred major debate on social media following his reaction to the Federal Government’s recent announcement regarding the rescue of abducted citizens. Over the weekend, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed that 38 church members kidnapped during a violent bandit attack in Kwara State had regained their freedom.
The President also disclosed that 51 Catholic school students abducted in Niger State were successfully rescued, describing the coordinated operations as part of the government’s intensified fight against insecurity.
However, I Go Save is not convinced. The comedian took to his platform to challenge the authenticity of the rescue claims, suggesting that something about the entire situation “doesn’t add up.” In his words, he described the rescue announcements as “false flag rescue operations,” implying that the timing and execution appeared suspicious. His statement immediately ignited heated conversations among Nigerians online, especially as the nation continues to struggle with rising insecurity, mass kidnappings, and concerns over the government’s transparency.
According to I Go Save, what raised his suspicion was the timing of the operations, especially following the United States’ recent warning about intervening in Nigeria to prevent what it termed an impending Christian genocide. He questioned how rescue operations that previously seemed complicated and prolonged suddenly became swift and successful.
He further argued that Nigeria’s security challenges have lasted for years without decisive breakthroughs, yet within days of international attention, multiple rescue missions were reported as successful. His comments reflect the growing frustration among citizens who feel the government has not done enough to address insecurity and protect vulnerable communities.
The comedian’s remarks have intensified public discourse, with some Nigerians supporting his skepticism while others insist the government deserves credit for the recoveries. As insecurity remains a critical concern nationwide, I Go Save’s claims have once again drawn attention to the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and consistent action from authorities.
