Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has opened up about her experience filming intimate scenes, revealing that she does not feel any emotional or physical attachment during kissing and hugging moments on set.

The actress made this known while speaking in a recent interview, where she clarified that such scenes are strictly professional acts performed for the camera and not for personal pleasure.

Etinosa, known for her versatility and strong screen presence, explained that intimacy scenes are no different from any other scene in a movie.

According to her, actors are trained to embody their characters fully and detach once filming stops. She emphasised that the ability to switch in and out of character is a fundamental part of the craft.

“As a professional actor, you should be able to enter your character and come out of it easily. When you hear ‘action,’ you perform. When you hear ‘cut,’ you detach,” she stated, highlighting the discipline required to deliver convincing performances without losing personal boundaries.

The actress went on to reveal that her primary focus while filming intimate scenes is ensuring that the scene looks authentic and visually appealing to the audience.

She explained that kissing and hugging on set requires careful calculation, choreography, and an understanding of camera angles, rather than emotional involvement.

“Kissing and hugging passionately is a performative act. It is more calculative than intimate. Even though it looks real, I do not feel anything during intimate scenes because it is a mind thing,” she added.

Etinosa’s comments come at a time when discussions about on-screen intimacy in Nollywood are becoming more frequent.

Many actors have voiced concerns about boundaries, consent, and professionalism, especially as filmmakers begin to embrace more expressive and emotional storytelling.

Her remarks contribute to the ongoing conversation about how actors navigate sensitive scenes while maintaining professionalism.

The actress also noted that fans often misinterpret on-screen chemistry as real-life romance, not understanding the technical work that goes into crafting such moments.

“People see two characters kissing and assume the actors must feel something, but it doesn’t work that way,” she explained. “You’re thinking about lighting, camera placement, and whether your face is turned properly. It’s the least intimate thing.”

Her perspective has sparked reactions online, with many praising her honesty and professionalism. Some fans expressed appreciation for the insight, noting that understanding the behind-the-scenes process helps demystify what happens on set.

Others noted that having a detached mindset helps prevent complications, especially when actors are married or in committed relationships.

Etinosa, who has been vocal about professionalism in Nollywood, urged fellow actors to prioritise performance over personal emotions, especially during sensitive scenes. She believes that proper preparation and discipline help maintain boundaries while ensuring that the final product is convincing to audiences.

Her comments also reflect a broader shift in Nollywood, where actors are increasingly advocating for structured intimacy coordination similar to Hollywood standards—to ensure comfort, consent, and professionalism during filming.

As discussions about on-screen intimacy continue to evolve, Etinosa’s candid revelations shed more light on the realities of acting, reminding fans that what appears passionate on screen is, in reality, a carefully executed performance designed solely for storytelling.
