As 2025 draws to a close, Nollywood fans are already turning their attention to what lies ahead. FilmOne Entertainment has unveiled its much-anticipated 2026 lineup, a diverse slate that balances commercial appeal with creative ambition.

From romance and musical experiments to historical dramas and social commentaries, these films promise to showcase the next phase of Nigeria’s cinematic evolution.

Every year, the industry reinvents itself, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and technical artistry. According to FilmOne, the upcoming year will spotlight new collaborations, daring concepts, and stories that speak to both local and global audiences. Below are some of the standout titles shaping the year ahead.

‘Everything Is New Again’ (January 30, 2026)

Opening the 2026 slate is Everything Is New Again, a romantic drama from Inkblot Productions and FilmOne Studios. The film, which explores the delicate themes of love, timing, and rediscovery, continues the successful partnership between Inkblot and Filmhouse Group, following their acclaimed project KAVA. It sets the tone for a year that blends emotional depth with mainstream appeal.

‘Love & New Notes’ (February 13, 2026)

Next up is Love & New Notes, directed by Kayode Kasum and starring Timini Egbuson. This Valentine’s release explores the rhythm of modern romance in Lagos  a city where passion collides with ambition. The film promises a mix of laughter, heartbreak, and poetic storytelling, with Kasum and Egbuson reuniting after their successful run with Reel Love.

‘Mothers of Chibok’ (February 27, 2026)

A powerful addition to the lineup, Mothers of Chibok is a documentary by Kachi Benson revisiting the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction. Through the voices of grieving mothers, it highlights resilience, faith, and the unyielding strength of Nigerian women. The film is expected to resonate globally, emphasizing the human stories behind one of Nigeria’s most painful tragedies.

‘A Fisherwoman’s Dream’ (March 6, 2026)

Directed by Laju Iren, this emotional drama follows a woman who defies societal expectations to chase her dreams. Featuring Chude Jideonwo in his acting debut, the film beautifully intertwines faith, purpose, and destiny. It’s an intimate exploration of perseverance and self-belief, making it one of the year’s most inspiring titles.

‘Evi’ (March 27, 2026

Nollywood musicals are rare, but Evi aims to change that. Produced by Judith Audu and directed by Uyoyou Adia, this film blends music, culture, and storytelling into a vibrant cinematic experience. With its colourful set design and original soundtrack, Evi promises to join the ranks of notable Nigerian musicals like Lara and the Beat and A Song from the Dark.

‘The Other Side of the Bridge’ (April 17, 2026)

Produced by Demi Banwo in partnership with Lord Tanner Studios, this gritty sports drama follows two boxers  one from the Island and the other from the Mainland  as they battle for supremacy. Drawing inspiration from Creed II, the production invested nearly a year in training its lead actors to ensure authenticity. Expect intense fight sequences and a deep emotional core.

‘A Star in Dark’ (April 24, 2026)

Although details remain under wraps, A Star in Dark is expected to explore the price of fame and the sacrifices that come with success. With FilmOne Studios backing the project, anticipation is high that it will deliver a poignant exploration of stardom’s double-edged sword.

‘Iya Mi’ (May 29, 2026)

Closing out the early-year lineup is Iya Mi, a heartwarming drama celebrating motherhood, sacrifice, and generational love. While the cast is yet to be revealed, it’s already generating buzz for its emotional storytelling and deep cultural resonance.

Undated Projects Worth Watching

Among the unscheduled but highly anticipated titles are Prophetess 2, a sequel starring Toyin Abraham and produced by Anthill Studios; Ilu, a Yoruba epic led by Femi Adebayo; Lagos Big Boy, a fast-paced Inkblot comedy about friendship and ambition; and The Smart Money Woman, an adaptation of Arese Ugwu’s beloved financial empowerment story starring Toni Tones.

With such a robust and diverse collection of titles, FilmOne’s 2026 lineup captures the essence of Nollywood’s evolution  bold, emotional, and unapologetically Nigerian.

Whether it’s love stories, historical dramas, or cultural epics, one thing is clear: 2026 will be a year of unforgettable storytelling on the big screen.
