Former Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Thelma Lawson, has opened up about her post-show reality, admitting that life after the popular reality TV show has become significantly more expensive.

The reality star revealed that the demands of fame and fans’ expectations have made maintaining her public image a costly and demanding experience.

Speaking in a recent interview with Yanga FM, Lagos, Thelma reflected on how her lifestyle has changed since leaving the Big Brother Naija house.

She confessed that the pressure to look fashionable and maintain appearances has forced her to spend far more than she used to before fame.

“This new life is expensive,” Thelma stated. When asked why, she explained that the high costs come from attending public events and keeping up with the image fans have of her

. “Because you are showing up for events. I came out of the house and found out that I was named ‘the most fashionable.’ Now, I have an audience that wants to see what Thelma is wearing,” she said.

The former housemate further noted that maintaining a brand as a public figure requires continuous effort and financial investment.

Beyond her personal image, Thelma also runs a business that demands regular restocking, which she described as overwhelming. “It’s expensive. Also, because I have a business that requires constant restocking, it’s very, very overwhelming,” she added.

Thelma’s revelation sheds light on the often-overlooked pressures faced by reality TV stars who transition from relative obscurity to public figures overnight. Many former Big Brother Naija contestants have spoken about similar struggles, balancing fame, business, and personal growth while trying to meet the expectations of their fan base.

Her comments echo those of other ex-housemates like Tacha and Imisi, who have also opened up about the challenges of sustaining their newfound fame. While the show offers instant recognition and opportunities, it also comes with enormous responsibility to maintain a certain image one that can be financially draining.

Thelma’s honesty highlights a broader conversation about the realities of celebrity life in Nigeria, especially for reality TV stars who are thrust into the limelight without long-term financial planning or brand management experience.

Despite the pressure, Thelma continues to engage her audience with her fashion choices and entrepreneurial ventures. Her remarks serve as a reminder that behind the glamour seen on social media, maintaining fame and relevance often comes with heavy financial and emotional costs.
