Controversial clergyman, Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje, has openly criticized Nigeria’s political leaders and questioned the silence of top pastors like E.A. Adeboye and David Oyedepo amid the country’s deepening governance and economic crisis.
In a video shared on X on Monday, Odumeje described the nation as being under “the worst government anywhere,” accusing officials at all levels of entrenched corruption.
He urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to rise and reclaim the country from leaders more interested in personal wealth than public service.
“We can never keep quiet. This is our country. There must be a revolution. Amen,” Odumeje declared.
Highlighting the declining value of Nigeria’s currency compared to Ghana’s, he added:
“The worst government anywhere is Nigeria. The worst corrupted government that nothing can change it is Nigeria. See, we that Ghana is insulting Nigeria. Even the money of Ghana has value than Nigerian’s money. Ghana money before, that was insulted. We were insulting Ghana money before. But today, the money of Ghana now, I see it in the time of Goodluck,” he said.
Odumeje also lamented the rising cost of living and the seeming apathy among citizens:
“Fuel is higher price. And now, nobody to talk. Things are going costly. Nobody cares anymore. Nobody is talking because people have already seen a bad government in Nigeria as a normal life,” he said.
Calling on the youth to take action, he stressed:
“All the youth of this country arise and take back. Let us arise and take back our country from the businessmen that call themselves leaders. People we are talking today before, Ghana must go. In Nigeria. All on back, Ghana must go. Now Ghana now, they tell us in Ghana now, Nigeria must go.”
Odumeje further linked poor governance to the nation’s moral and social decline, warning that its effects would ripple through future generations:
“When there is a bad people in leadership, their children will be feeling it. When there is a bad government, a bad father, the children will not have respect,” he said.
He also addressed President Bola Tinubu’s administration, reminding Nigerians of promises made before the 2023 elections, particularly the commitment to provide uninterrupted electricity:
“When Tinubu is about to enter the government, they say, if I enter this government, just give me four years. If I don’t put 24 hours electricity, don’t vote for me for second term. The video, I’m with it. How many of you saw the video? Yeah, I saw it. Now, it’s no more talking about it,” Odumeje stated.
Finally, the clergyman questioned why influential religious leaders have remained silent in the face of Nigeria’s challenges:
“These are people that are supposed to be talking about the bad government — Adeboye or Oyedepo. They’re supposed to carry it strongly. Fathers. Do you know the setback in Nigeria?”
Watch him speak below…
“Pastors like Adeboye and Oyedepo should be the top people calling out the båd government in Nigeria. Our politicians are the wørst; they never think of how to move the country forward. Instead, Nigeria keeps moving backwards year after year. But don’t ever think things will… pic.twitter.com/B9uUKTBM7l
