Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has fired back at a social media user who criticized him over his recent post about wealth, shame, and seizing opportunities.
Earlier, Peter had shared photos of himself alongside billionaire Aliko Dangote, emphasizing that rich people pursue opportunities boldly and are unbothered by shame. He asserted that “shame is for the broke ones,” underscoring his message that success comes from fearlessness.
In response, an X user highlighted what they perceived as irony in Peter’s statements, pointing out that he had gone for a hair transplant despite claiming to have no shame. The user suggested that if Peter truly embodied his philosophy, he would have focused solely on chasing opportunities without concern for appearances. They wrote:
“You no get shame, but you go do hair transplant. You for baldishly dey pursue opportunity. Advice just full everyone’s mouth until e reach their turn.”
Peter quickly replied, maintaining his original stance while adding a humorous twist. He reminded the user that he had no shame but was openly showing the world that he had an implant. “Remember, I had no shame but still showing it off to the world that I had an implant! Get it!” he tweeted.
This is not the first time the singer has addressed online critics with sharp, unapologetic responses. Just a week ago, Peter told a troll to “cry harder” while providing a metaphorical bucket for them to continue crying after being admonished to “kill pride and make peace” with his brother.
Peter has also used social media to clarify the status of his music career. He previously announced the end of Psquare, stating, “there is no Psquare anymore; I am my own Square.” He clarified that Jude and Paul are now the new Psquare and advised Nigerians to manage their expectations regarding the duo.
In addition, Peter has reflected publicly on personal and family struggles. He once warned the public not to let family be the reason they “drown in silence,” revealing that he endured similar challenges for over 20 years, which came at great personal cost. He noted, “Love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family doesn’t steal from you.”
These remarks echo a longstanding rift within Psquare. In 2023, the band reportedly fell out again due to funds allegedly diverted by their elder brother, Jude Okoye. Peter also pointed out that instead of teaming up with him to reclaim their position in the music industry, Paul joined forces with Jude, contributing to Peter’s marginalization and humiliation within the family and professional sphere.
Through his posts and interactions on X, Peter continues to assert his independence, offering fans insight into both his personal philosophy and the challenges he has faced as a former member of Psquare.
