Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s political structure and the ongoing struggles of Black people in America, calling for greater accountability in governance and a shift in mindset among Black communities.

Speaking in an interview with BET, the rapper expressed frustration over how Nigerians often blame the President for every national challenge while overlooking the roles of local government and state leaders who directly affect citizens’ lives.

“You have a local government, you have your councillor, you have your senator, the guys that are directly in charge of you, but when anything happens, they say ‘ah, Tinubu’. You’re a small fish to the president. The guy that is supposed to take care of you is the one opposite you. But that’s what you get when you use that kind of policy to govern a people – when everybody’s sovereignty is in the hands of one man,” he said.

Odumodublvck went on to condemn the over-centralization of power, arguing that when too much authority is placed in the hands of one leader, it creates a system open to manipulation and corruption.

“If he’s a good man, they can take away your liberty by threatening him. What if he’s a man who waited 20 years for a child, becomes a governor, and they tell him, ‘If you don’t do this corruption, we’ll harm your daughter’? Even if he wants to help the people, he doesn’t have a choice,” he explained.

The rapper further stressed that democracy suffers when a nation’s sovereignty rests solely on one person, warning that such governance weakens accountability and development.

“If the sovereignty is in the hand of one man, there’s a problem. I’ve said what I need to say,” he added.

Shifting focus to racial issues in the United States, Odumodublvck addressed the plight of Black people, acknowledging their painful history while encouraging them to rise above victimhood and embrace the opportunities now available to them.

He said that although Black people in America have endured centuries of oppression, it is important to focus on progress and forgiveness rather than being trapped by the past.

“We cannot deny that America is now a better place for Black people. Black people have suffered in America, yes, but it’s time to step away from the victim mentality. We now have Black-owned businesses, a former Black president, people doing well in sports – now is the time to fly,” he stated.

Odumodublvck also drew a comparison between the struggles faced by Black communities in America and those in Africa, arguing that Africans have endured greater challenges, often inflicted by their own leaders.

Through his remarks, the rapper highlighted the need for both Africans and Black Americans to focus on empowerment, self-determination, and community-driven progress rather than relying on centralized power or dwelling on past injustices.
