Nigerian singer and rapper Ice Prince has opened up about his recent drastic weight loss, clarifying that it was not due to illness but rather a conscious effort to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

The Oleku crooner revealed that his excess belly weight was a result of unhealthy habits and poor lifestyle choices, prompting concern from family and friends that motivated him to take action.

In a post on X on Monday, Ice Prince credited his friend and music producer, Chopstix, for playing a pivotal role in his weight loss journey.

“God so good inna me life… A short story! I was literally about to explode… no sickness (Bless God), just bad habits and choices,” he wrote. He went on to explain that Chopstix, along with a friend named Dami, encouraged him to lose his belly weight, which ignited a newfound motivation.

He described the routine that helped him shed the pounds, sharing that Chopstix would visit his house every evening after dinner, and together they would walk around his estate for an hour.

Ice Prince also highlighted the value of their conversations during these walks, noting that the discussions they shared were as meaningful as some of the deepest talks he had since childhood.

“Unoo chopper gist na normally for PhD students lol but our talks during those walks are priceless to me, as every other thing we’ve both talked about since we were kids,” he added, acknowledging the strong friendship and support system that contributed to his transformation.

Ice Prince’s story comes amid a growing trend of Nigerian celebrities making headlines for dramatic weight loss journeys.

In 2022, former plus-sized actress Eniola Badmus lost an astounding 80 kilograms, going from 170kg to her current 90kg.

Earlier this year, actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie also attracted public attention for her weight loss, which she later explained was due to medical reasons, including a thyroid operation that initially sparked cancer fears.

For Ice Prince, the decision to lose weight was less about public scrutiny and more about personal health and lifestyle improvement.

His candid reflection serves as a reminder that celebrities, despite their public image, face similar challenges with health, fitness, and self-discipline as anyone else.

By sharing his experience, he not only sets an example for fans but also demystifies assumptions that weight changes in public figures are always due to illness.

The rapper’s journey emphasizes the importance of support networks, accountability, and consistency in achieving health goals. Beyond just weight loss, Ice Prince’s story reflects personal growth, resilience, and the willingness to make positive changes when prompted by concern and care from loved ones.

As more Nigerian celebrities continue to prioritize health and wellness, Ice Prince’s narrative reinforces that lifestyle adjustments, encouragement from friends, and dedicated routines can lead to lasting transformations.

His story is a testament to taking proactive steps toward well-being while maintaining a grounded perspective on life, friendships, and personal discipline.
