Nollywood actress Liz DaSilva recently shared a harrowing experience she had while preparing for an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan, which could have resulted in serious consequences if not for her quick thinking and divine intervention.
In a candid video posted on Instagram, the actress revealed that she almost forgot to remove metal pins from her wig before entering the MRI machine—a device that relies on strong magnets capable of pulling metal objects, potentially causing injury or affecting the accuracy of the results.
Liz admitted that she had been anxious about the scan from the start. She told the medical staff about her fears to ensure they understood her nervousness. Before entering the machine, she meticulously removed all visible metal items, including earrings, chains, her bra, and waist beads. However, she nearly overlooked the pins in her wig, which could have posed a significant risk if the scan had proceeded without removing them.
Recalling the moment, Liz said: “I had an appointment at 10:40am, and another one at 2pm. I had styled my hair before coming, and when I got there, I was really nervous. I told the staff I was scared. I was almost ready to go in when I suddenly remembered the pins in my wig. I quickly told her, and she said she was about to ask me.”
The actress became emotional while recounting the incident, expressing her immense relief and gratitude to God for protecting her from what could have been a life-threatening situation. She further shared in Yoruba: “Truly, God saved me. I can say it boldly anywhere. What would have happened if God had not protected me? Maybe I wouldn’t be here today.” Her words underscore the importance of being vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings, especially when undergoing medical procedures involving strong magnets.
Liz’s experience serves as an important reminder for anyone preparing for an MRI scan to remove all metal objects, no matter how small or hidden. Hairpins, wig pins, jewelry, and other metallic accessories can pose serious risks if left in place during the scan. MRI machines are highly sensitive to metal, and even minor oversight can lead to injury or compromise the quality of the imaging results.
By sharing her story, Liz not only highlighted the potential dangers of forgetting metal objects but also aimed to educate her followers on the importance of taking every precaution seriously. She emphasized that it is always better to double-check and communicate openly with medical staff about any concerns or items that could pose a risk.
Beyond the scare, Liz’s account also highlights the role of faith and gratitude in navigating unexpected challenges. Her heartfelt acknowledgment of divine protection resonated with many of her followers, reminding them to remain cautious, mindful, and thankful for safety and well-being.
Through this incident, Liz DaSilva has turned a near-miss into a teaching moment, combining practical advice with a personal reflection on faith, vigilance, and gratitude. Her story is a reminder to everyone that awareness, preparation, and a touch of divine favor can make all the difference in ensuring safety during medical procedures.
