Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi has explained that his open support for Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi, is rooted in genuine loyalty and gratitude, rather than personal or financial interests.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, Fabiyi said his relationship with Imisi predates her rise to reality TV fame. He described himself as a “father figure” to the young star within the film industry, highlighting that their bond extends beyond professional interactions.

“I am an adult and like a father to her in the film industry. She was the only housemate I knew personally. Everything I do, she supports,” Fabiyi said. 

He recounted how Imisi even attended his housewarming event, staying throughout to ensure the occasion went smoothly. “Supporting her during the show was simply the right thing to do,” he added.

Fabiyi also revealed that Imisi’s entertainment journey began under his mentorship at his film academy. “Imisi was one of my students at my film academy, and beyond that, she has always been supportive of me and my son.

 We used to live in the same area in Ikorodu, and she’s been helpful long before the fame,” he said. This statement underscores the depth of their relationship, which has grown stronger over the years and extends beyond the glitz of reality TV.

When asked about potential fears in supporting her, given that some people he once helped had turned against him, Fabiyi explained that past experiences do not dictate his actions. 

“I don’t think about things like that. Of course, in today’s social media world, some people distance themselves from those who helped them just to appear self-made. They don’t want anyone to have bragging rights over their success,” he said. Despite these realities, Fabiyi emphasized that he remains unbothered by ingratitude.

“No matter the level of ingratitude, I don’t let it get to me. I’ll keep doing what’s right,” he added, signaling his steadfast commitment to supporting those he mentors.
