Nigerian singer Seyi Shay, born Oluwaseyi Joshua, has stirred massive controversy after making a bold confession about her alleged past membership in the secret society Illuminati. The revelation came during her appearance on the popular OffAir Podcast, sparking heated discussions across social media platforms.

The acclaimed Afropop star, known for hits like Right Now and Gimme Love, shocked many fans when she spoke candidly about the long-standing rumors linking her and other Nigerian celebrities to the secret organization.

In the podcast interview, Seyi Shay disclosed:

“That’s when I was in the Illuminati. That’s when I joined the Illuminati. That’s when it was official. Do you understand? I was an Illuminati member.”

Her statement instantly ignited a wave of online reactions, with ‘Illuminati’ trending on X (formerly Twitter) as thousands of Nigerians expressed shock, curiosity, and concern for the singer.

Seyi Shay went further to suggest that the entertainment industry was not entirely oblivious to such affiliations:

“People in the entertainment industry were aware of those who were involved but often pretend not to remember.”

This remark has added fuel to long-running conspiracy theories about global entertainment figures being linked to the Illuminati — a group often portrayed in pop culture as a mysterious and influential secret society.

On social media, some users expressed fears for Seyi Shay’s safety following her confession, while others accused her of seeking attention to revive her music career. A section of her fan base, however, praised her for speaking out about a topic often treated as taboo in the Nigerian music scene.

The clip from the OffAir Podcast, where she made the confession, has continued to circulate widely online, with many demanding more context behind her remarks.

Entertainment analysts note that the singer’s revelation could influence public perception of celebrity culture in Nigeria, where Illuminati conspiracies have long been a hot topic whenever an artist attains sudden fame.

As the debate continues, Seyi Shay has yet to clarify whether her statement was literal, symbolic, or taken out of context by fans. Nevertheless, the confession has cemented her as one of the few Nigerian stars to publicly claim a past connection with the Illuminati.
