Skyewise Group has refuted claims circulating online that the property recently demolished along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos belonged to popular auto influencer, Ola of Lagos.

The company explained that the demolished structure was solely owned by Skyewise Group and not by the influencer, contrary to what was reported on social media after the incident last Saturday.

The demolition had sparked widespread reactions online after videos emerged showing bulldozers tearing down luxury car display lots along the high-end Lekki-Epe corridor, an area well known for its concentration of automobile dealerships.

In a statement shared with PUNCH Online on Monday, the Chief Executive Officer of Skyewise Group, Elvis Abuyere, described the demolition of the firm’s property as “deeply unfortunate and saddening.”

Abuyere explained that the demolition was part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing plans to create access routes for a new waterway development project.

“This unfortunate incident affected several car lots along the Lekki Expressway, starting from Phase 1, where the Skyewise Group office was located,” he said.

Expressing his disappointment over the incident, the CEO noted that the company has already begun rebuilding efforts and plans to establish a new and upgraded facility in Lagos soon.

He also clarified that the property was wholly owned by Skyewise Group, while Ola of Lagos only rented a section of the premises for car hire operations and for showcasing luxury cars used in his social media content.

“All necessary building approvals, operational permits, dealership licenses, and environmental levies for the property were duly obtained from the Lagos State Government,” Abuyere stated.

He added that the company would soon release copies of the official documents to further confirm its ownership of the property.

Abuyere expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their encouragement and assured that Skyewise Group would “bounce back stronger and better in the near future.”
