Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has joined Nigerians in celebrating the country’s 65th Independence Day, sharing a heartfelt message about the nation’s journey and spirit.

Posting on Instagram, she shared photos of herself at the Nigerian Embassy in the United Kingdom, reflecting on how Nigerians carry their country in their hearts no matter where they are in the world.

“Whether at home or abroad, the Nigerian spirit lives in us. Shooting this picture at the Nigerian Embassy in the UK reminded me that no matter where we find ourselves, we carry Nigeria with us,” Badmus wrote.

The actress emphasized the emotional significance of the Nigerian flag, highlighting that it represents more than just colors—it tells the story of a resilient people who fought for freedom and continue to persevere despite challenges.

“Every time I see our flag wave – whether in Lagos or London – it stirs something deep within me. It’s more than colours, it’s the story of a people who fought for freedom, overcame trials, and continue to ride with resilience, hope, and pride,” she added.

Looking toward the future, Badmus encouraged unity and courage as essential elements for building a stronger nation.

“Today, as we celebrate our independence, I reflect on how far we’ve come and the brighter future that lies ahead. A future built on unity, courage, and the unshakable Nigerian spirit. Happy Independence Day to our beloved country, Nigeria. Happy 65th Independence Day.”

Last month, the actress faced criticism after posting photos suggesting she was speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Observers quickly pointed out that the images were actually taken at the Nigerian Embassy.

Clarifying the situation, Badmus explained that she had been invited as a special guest to the UNGABO Side Event Series in New York. She described the opportunity as a milestone that is shaping her career, expanding her network, and opening doors to global possibilities.

In May 2024, following her support for President Tinubu during the elections, Badmus was appointed Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Social Events and Public Hearing. She expressed gratitude for the appointment, calling it an honor to serve under Senator Abbas’ leadership.

By July, Badmus had officially resumed her duties, sharing photos from meetings with Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Abuja. Earlier this year, she also urged Nigerians to embrace unity, pride, and purpose, reminding citizens that the power to shape the country’s future lies in their hands.

Eniola Badmus’ reflections on Independence Day highlight her deep connection to her nation and her ongoing commitment to contributing positively to Nigeria’s growth, both as an entertainer and a public servant.
